I've seen people outside the US complaining the residents of the US are doing nothing. That perception is because the media largely isn't covering what's happening around the country. I frequently say you don't need to protest. You don't! There are a thousand other ways to push back on fascism if protesting doesn't feel comfortable or safe for you!

But if you CAN go, this 10/18 #NoKings thing is really a key protest to participate in. Be part of it, friends.

I would say that the MAGA Christians are Christian Nationalists, something that rises up from time to time in different places. Instead of the siblinghood of humanity, they assume God loves them (and the US) best. Presbyterian here, the idea of speaking for the divine makes me check for lightning.

Under Hitler's rule, the Nazi regime did not disarm all German citizens, they selectively relaxed gun laws for "loyal" Germans while stripping political opponents and Jews of their right to bear arms. This created a tiered system of gun ownership that served the Nazis' political/security goals.

Apropos of nothing, once the President of the United States confirms covert CIA operations in a country… say, Venezuela, those operations are no longer covert.
