Where we stand, in long arc of history:

-Story on left, adding race as a factor when that favors white people.

-Story on right, banning race as a factor when that favors non-whites.

I often complain about NYT headlines and story-play. But these are strong. Including "If Court Guts 1965 Law."
Two headlines on front page of NYT.

First is "Trump Weighs Transforming Refugee Policy. White People Would be Given Preference."

Second is "Justices May Ban Race as a Factor in District Maps. Nation's Political Balance Could Shift If Court Guts 1964 Law."

There will be textbooks written on how headline fails contributed to Trump's fascism and manipulation of the public, particularly by the billionaires who purchased the 4th estate.

Reflecting upon today’s two #BirdOfTheDay theme options, I have added this piping plover and great egret. #birds #reflections #plovers #egrets #birdphotography #nature 🪶
A young piping plover, facing left, is reflected on the skim of water on the shoreline of South Dartmouth MA USA A great egret, going left to right, is reflected in a shallow inlet as it plunges its head with a splash into the water to catch a fish. Photo taken in South Dartmouth MA USA
No problem, I appreciate you can’t always get to everyone and I wouldn’t expect it for every one of my contributions. I just enjoy being part of the group for some fun diversion from the news!

Republicans are going to cheat & gerrymander with the rubber stamp of the Supreme Court.

It will be very hard for Democrats to take back the House and Senate.

Meanwhile, Trump will send the military to crush protests, and when he gets desperate, he'll implement martial law.

Eyes wide open, folks.

Boston looks forward to welcoming the world to our beautiful city, the cradle of liberty and city of champions.
Trump on moving World Cup games from Boston: "We could take them away. Your mayor is not good."
Thanks! They are fun to watch!

We swans are a popular choice for today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme, so we’re giving you some extra #longneck to help make our case! We previously showed off our #wings a few days ago! #birds #swans #birdphotography #nature 🪶
Two mute swans fly right to left in unison along a marshy inlet in South Dartmouth MA USA. Their red beaks at the left stand out from their masked faces and very long necks.
Will it or wont it? Yes, this willet will get aurborne as it flaps its #wings and takes long strides (to produce some droplets from splashing) on the shoreline runway. And yes, I am enjoying today’s theme. #birds #BirdOfTheDay #willet #shorebirds #birdphotography #nature 🪶

Osprey #wings are fantastic! Here’s one using its power to lift off from its nest.

The first big "scoop" by Bari Weiss is a feelings-over-facts poorly sourced non-story that spells Mamdani's name incorrectly. Just incredible stuff.
CBS News would never put a thinly sourced 'story' by a rookie blogger like this on it's air. Until now. The Free Press isn't a journalism outlet, it's bloggers aren't reporters. This piece is more NYPost than Tiffany Network but I guess that's the goal.

Some NYPD officers worry about Mandani becoming the NYC mayor, The Free Press reports
The Free Press spoke to several New York City Police Department officers who are worried about Zohran Mamdani becoming mayor. Olivia Reingold joins CBS News with more.

I appreciate it. I never really considered it, since I didn’t get either head in the photo, but checked back and saw it was a great fit for this theme!
You want #wings for the #BirdOfTheDay theme? Well here’s a pair of mute swans flying in unison showing off just their wings and necks. #birds #swans #nature #birdphotography 🪶
This photo of a pair of mute swans in flight near a marshy inlet shows their wings in unison flapping down. Their necks extend to the left, but their heads can’t be seen, as the swan on the left has its head just out of the frame and the one on the right has its its head blocked by the swan ahead of it. A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.
And same to you (as always).
Hey dad! Where’s my food? A fledgling bluebird impatiently waits for a meal and its turn for the #BirdOfTheDay theme of juveniles! #birds #bluebirds #birdphotography #nature 🪶
