It’s even worse. It’s reversing 400 years of Anglo-American constitutional development going back to Charles I’s personal rule when he refused to consult Parliament over spending and governance. Trump and his GOP lackeys are undoing stuff the Founders saw as fundamental to our system.

We are living through the most consequential shift in the constitutional government of the United States in over a hundred and fifty years and nobody seems to have even noticed yet.

Congress no longer holds the power of the purse, the executive can just do whatever they want with federal monies

i cannot get over how quickly this is happening. the decline of the other two branches/ascent of the lawless executive is outpacing actual democratic decline, which is usually what precipitates executive consolidation. but in our case, the other two branches are collaborators

"Residents in Chicago and Portland are living in a police state where masked armed forces kidnap who they want to kidnap, where they have to listen to public officials routinely lie about what is happening in their neighborhoods." donmoynihan.substack.com/p/purge-merg...

Federal Secret Police and plainclothes ICE agents kidnap multiple people from a neighborhood in Chicago. They then deploy teargas and brutally beat neighbors who come out to express their concern.

Lmao no of course not.

So the UK is just going to let Elon openly try to get their government overthrown.

Very cool and normal.

That is not what is happening no.

Dude turned 9-year-old girls into sex slaves & forced people to wear their own cut-off hands around their necks.

Plenty of Europeans of his time were horrified by him.

It's Indigenous People's Day. Or Pick-Any-Decent-Italian-to-Celebrate Day.

Periodic reminder that Christopher Columbus was a monster.

50,000 Native Americans committed mass suicide rather than be killed or captured by him.

I continually think about that news article about the dude who interviewed billionaires who all have been wargaming out how to keep their personal security loyal when cash has no value

suicide shock collars were mentioned

The democrats are one thing but watching all the world leaders debase themselves is a true sight to behold.

this game is fantastic, everyone should play it

I've been thinking about this flash game I played the other day because it reduces the Congress down entirely to "pro oil" "?" or "pro environment" and as the oil oligarch, you just grease
either party's pockets to get them to pass your bills.

One of the better simulations of US politics honestly.

Now you can be the protagonist of the petroleum era: explore and drill around the world, corrupt politicians, stop alternative energies and increase the oil addiction. Be sure to have fun before the r...

As a kid I played the McDonalds game and thought "well that is awfully cynical".

Of all of @molleindustria.org 's games, this is easily my favorite. Well worth checking out all of their works!

This seems extremely up my alley!

I think if a serious progressive gets into Congress, all the rules and procedures are super helpful for exploiting the vulnerabilities and weaknesses of the system.

But until then, it's a fun parlor trick.
senategabe.bsky.social
That is strange. It was real.
senategabe.bsky.social
Oh also if you pay enough bribes, the president then becomes a pro-oil president and you can go into a secret room and plan special operations that help you drill for more oil across the world.

It's a nerd thing. Some people like collecting stamps. This is my thing.
senategabe.bsky.social
I seriously do not know why I bother with the intricacies of legislative procedure.

Someone who believes "They are all corrupt buffoons that serve the powerful" understands perfectly well what is going on.
senategabe.bsky.social
Right. I put that at the bottom of the thread but I find that wild.

If they do not have the nerve to convince their own people to support a bs process thing then they aren't going to be able to take on anything at all.
senategabe.bsky.social
I never said that. I've pushed for a shutdown then and I pushed for one now though hardly only to defend ACA subsidies.

I'm saying the GOP did exactly what you said someone who didn't understand how bills work would do and it got signed into law.
