I keep thinking about the night I accepted a ride the 25 minutes home from a bonfire at age 16 from a 18-year-old guy who seemed nice initially but spent the entire ride talking about how Japanese internment was justified and ended up asking me how I felt about how white people were being outbred

anyway sometimes I get the sensation that the south (+ Appalachia) is the only place where people think Americans can be poor, GENUINELY rural, racist, and attached to the land and its stories and myths and horrors and yet still love it to death in a visceral way and it bothers me haha

• Figure out a small place to find joy
• Figure out a small way to grow and thrive

also in general i don't think The American Consumer is going to be able to product boycott the world into being a better place. which is not to say you shouldn't have your own ethical precepts abt these things but i don't think it's very valuable to try to enforce then on other people
