You are probably aware of this, but many don't know that West of Prague, our education systems have completely failed to educate people on what communist tyranny is and was. High school history lessons basically boil down to "Stalin was bad, but the theory..."

It achieves two things :
Unites the public in their courageous and humorous display and humiliates fascists; it makes them funny too, because by brutalizing the ridiculous, they become ridiculous, and that's what fundamentally makes them NOT scary, it literally disarms them.

If you don’t feel like someone is protesting the right way, you need to give them a *specific* alternative. People care about the same things you do and want to help, but they don’t know what to *do*. So they show up at the only event they’ve heard anything about. Invite people to *your* thing.

I am old enough to remember the winters of 2005, 2008 and 2009. In each of these winters, Russia cut the gas supply to Ukraine, Belarus, and other states, causing people to freeze in their homes. Russia did this as a means of political blackmail.
