Ekko from League of Legends in a stylized way similar tot he artstyle from Spiderman Into the Spiderverse A Cartoonish creepy looking Vampire girl with a huge smile on her face. A grumpy looking man with a blue curly beard Steamboat Mickey

Same! It feels so weird talking to a device like this, and I hate hearing other people do it

I have a tub of proper machine grease, looks like forbidden pudding. It’s so satisfying to clean up a seized thing and slather that stuff all over it for the smooth motion that follows.

Be careful doing this with doors, you can accidentally slam them on yourself.

Home appliances.

I have smart lighting but strictly on local networks only, I refuse to get any smart fridge/washer/toaster etc

If it can function without being online, it’s not going online. If it needs to be online I’m not buying it.

It’s all so invasive and unnecessary.

i have never, not once, listened to a song on spotify unless it was playing at somebody else's place

what are you a luddite about

Use the regular stuff to unstuck the things, then use the silicone spray to keep it unstuck
thatguymike.bsky.social
I bet there’s not an inch of rust on you. Fabulous

Check out this dude, he thinks humans are here
thatguymike.bsky.social
Very true. This one just fascinates me

I’ll just give her a bowl of sour cream and I’ll have the chilli
thatguymike.bsky.social
Sometimes my wife will be daring and have some chilli, I’ll make it as mild as possible. Bell peppers, the least spicy chilli powder and even some extra cheese to counteract any heat still remaining.

She still get the sweats from that.

You’re all enjoying spooky season, but I work on a live service game so spooks finished a while back

It’s Christmas here now. Mariah Carey has been stalking me for weeks

Yeah Im remembering the trees with just standard normals over the leaves from one of the Switch entries. Some of the stuff they deliver is so jarring.

Best guess is its a rushed batched model used for wide shots. Just everything thrown together quickly rather than making something more optimised.

If its the main focus in a flyover or something, it'd work fine
thatguymike.bsky.social
As others already said, its just as likely someone misinterpreted what they see and then everyone whos heard of what a vertex is made assumptions.

Poo on 80lvl for making an article on it as if its fact but it also has me so curious about whether it really is just one model or not.
thatguymike.bsky.social
Ive no doubt the console could load it fine, but there are so many gains to be made visually by breaking it up in more standard ways.
thatguymike.bsky.social
That'd definitely be my first assumption.

But there have definitely been odd choices in previous 'open-worldly' Pokemon games which makes this somewhat plausible.

Id hope its just an armchair dev assumption though
thatguymike.bsky.social
I mentioned it elsewhere, but the Starfield sandwich had this too.
thatguymike.bsky.social
I want to believe its for something other than the actual game environment. Its a little high-poly for maps or wide shots but far more plausible if it was just done as a quick batch job
thatguymike.bsky.social
Cinematic is what I recon, I havent played this one myself so I cant do any real investigation.

But it reminds me of people freaking out about the high-poly Starfield sandwich, which I believe was only used for the beauty shots in menus.
thatguymike.bsky.social
Yeah but for a whole city?

I've definitely done goofs on things here and there which get missed until later. But I cant imagine that happening unnoticed for the whole game environment.
thatguymike.bsky.social
You cant LOD a model like this without some kind of dynamic system or I guess proximity based tessellation? You cant do any real occlusion or frustrum culling.

I have a hard time believing this is actually the in-game model. It cant be a collider though, maybe a flyover model?
thatguymike.bsky.social
Im a professional. I have something around 15 years of experience. I have a pretty good grasp on game-art working practices and optimisations.

I cant work out the reasoning behind this approach. A single model will save on draw calls, is the rest of the game so badly optimised they had to do this?
The Entirety of Pokémon Legends: Z-A's Lumiose City is a Single Model
While most are making fun of Game Freak's approach, others are trying to understand the reasoning behind it.

I have bottles of the hottest hot sauces I can find in a special cabinet, treated like actual bombs so they’re not accidentally used. But when we go out for meals I will go nuts. Spiciest foods on the menu, I gotta get that kick!
thatguymike.bsky.social
Wife inherited the super low spice tolerance, it’s very hard to have a proper spicy meal at home when a single stray chilli flake can blow her head off.
