these past few days I've been thinking a lot about what makes the world of hollow knight work so well, and I think it's because it's got an enormous amount of *character*

it's very, flavorful, created with a clear direction in mind, and executed so holistically across art/vfx/design/sfx/VO/music

is streaming to youtube from obs supposed to be a gauntlet of pain or

I connect my account in the obs settings but then I have to log in again in the obs youtube control panel with no autocomplete or oauth (unlike "connect account") so I have to 2FA again, but then it can't find the youtube stream?

Shapes is the only Unity asset store plugin I use. Usually they're garbage, but @freya.bsky.social has created an invaluable asset. I can't recommend it enough. ❤️

ooo it's so interesting seeing how dual quaternion splines solve extreme rotational differences!

I made it prefer the shortest path within the quaternion double cover, so when control points pass the 180 degree switch with its neighbors, the path also changes its shape!

ahah IT WORKS look it's a C² dual quaternion B-spline!!

this is interpolating *poses* in dual quaternion form, coupling position and rotation, instead of treating them independently (this is a really neat thing!!)

I've *almost* got dual quaternion interpolation going!

DQs naturally interpolate using a screw motion, which works for any two rigid poses

ok I'm gonna resume fighting dual quaternions. one day I'll be able to implement exp(Q) and ln(Q) ;-;

I've been *so* close but there's always one little thing that's wrong, and it's hard to tell if it was a typo in the paper I was reading, or if I made a bad assumption somewhere

you know I used to say that going from 120Hz to 240Hz for monitor refresh rate wasn't super worth it, but today I had my first moment of spontaneously *noticing* my monitor had dropped to 120 Hz, likely due a change of TV/hdmi setup yesterday
