I think what's bothering me about all these statements I'm seeing from politicians that are variations of "Israeli hostages and Palestinians are returning to their homes, yay" is that Israelis are returning to their homes and Palestinians are returning to uninhabitable post apocalyptic rubble.

by which I mean: I think part of what you're intuiting is about how "fat woman" is socially constructed as a different gender than "default woman" — often either a hyperfeminine one or a masculinized one or both, which maps to the trans fem experience pretty congruously

there’s a lot to like about that piece, but talking about fandom being ‘famously queer’ rubs me the wrong way as a trans woman who has seen how transmisogynistic fanfic can be. queer, but with a big NOT YOU sign over the door maybe.

we’re always an asterisk wherever we go. fandom is no exception.
