the thing is that the conservatives have for decades been building this gun that anybody with the right look and a tolerance for publicity can pick up and aim at any minoritized or simply liberal-coded target they can manufacture a grievance with, GamerGate everywhere. for everybody, forever
we don’t need to have this conversation. a student getting a failing grade on an assignment because she failed to follow the instructions is not national news. college instructors shouldn’t be second-guessing this student’s actual instructor, who assigned and graded the work.

hands down the most inventive, lyrical sci-fi prose of a lifetime is bejeweling the Look command in a game where giant tadpoles rip off your arms but that's okay because maybe you can mutate more

having seen more episodes: I accidentally wasn't joking
having seen only the first episode, I have come to the conclusion that Pluribus is about a hive mind that has unfettered access to the combined awkward insecurity of all humankind

every news item about Jammie Booker is focused on her not disclosing she was transgender and characterizing that as a "deception"

and not one article correctly identifies the manner in which she was outed as sexual harrassment

I'm observing an argument about social gamification and sure enough someone inevitably brought up the propagandized "in China the state gave everyone a social score that other people could add or subtract points from, that's Black Mirror!!" and my good dudes, wtf do you think a credit score is

We all expect that this sex criminal will use the experience of getting away with his sex crimes to produce his best work to date.
Better than the work you liked before you found out he was a sex criminal, who ruined the careers and livelihoods of the women he victimized when they dared speak up.

And one more other thing I’m seeing now, that Northwestern unsurprisingly didn’t mention in its statement, effectively banning gender affirming care at NU school of medicine

People who got deported and never come back, laws policies rulings "rules" that get changed in this two year period and aren't changed back later.

The last Trump administration dug in a lifetime's worth of bad Federal judges. This Trump administration they're digging deeper, burying things deeper

in search of gender validation, I never go to the same place twice, thus ensuring that I am never, ever back in town
Gender is a spectrum from just wanting have fun to being back in town, and to varying degrees, each of us contains attributes of both, which is a beautiful thing

i think young ppl who've grown up in the decades since where the kind of character and iconography represented by frank n furter is now just kind of the most commonplace mass media imagery of transfemininity are mostly just bored & unmoved by it. not really subversive to straightness even anymore
This tracks, as a lot of the writing/reviews on it I've read have been very "you young people just don't understand" in tone.

viral queer romcom premise: totally normal 2nd act love triangle. HOWEVER, there are two versions of the 3rd act, one where the heroine commits to working things out with her longtime partner, one where she runs away with the exciting new spark.

the history books are going to say that when marijuana was legalized in the US the number of potheads skyrocketed. but they'll leave out the fact that a pandemic gave 1 in 10 of us chronic pain in a country with no real health care

but "I won't vote for somebody who DOES support trans people" is NOT considered a hostage-taking purity test

then we aren't against hostage taking, we're just choosing our preferred hostage

Racism is fascism practiced on Black people first.

Hitler based the Nuremberg laws on US Jim Crow. He invaded Russia because he wanted his own California.

The US shifting from a racist country to a fascist country basically means "Start treating everyone like you've always treated Black people."
