It's been a very terrible and stressful few days (see previous posts for context) so I'm bringing out this serene commission that @elfreckles.bsky.social got a few years ago.

Maybe if I stare at it long enough, the wasp mosh pit in my brain will stop 🙃

Feels over the top that Donald Trump did the thing that aliens and terrorists in movies do.
Genuinely what an insane image

I regularly get a couple students who come to my classes because of fascist/white supremacist "grandeur of Rome" horseshit (often mixed up with tradcath anti-Vatican II stuff), and hoooo boy do they not enjoy the ride.
Trump has
-ordered that new federal structures be built in the “classical” style
-paved over the Rose Garden
-ordered that 2 DC Confederate statues be restored
-proposed a triumphal arch in Arlington
-demolished part of the WH to make room for his $200M ballroom

There is a suburb in Melbourne (where I use to have harpsichord lessons) where the houses are being gradually torn down and replaced with these big French Chateau style mcmansions. And I just think they looked cheap and flimsy.

We talked about how medieval temples had colorful interiors, with almost every surface painted in bright colors, but the same was true on the exterior as well, especially on the main facade. Of course, these pigments are more difficult to preserve, for one reason or another.
The 2011 BBC show 'Romancing the stone' showed a reconstruction of what historians thought Wells Cathedral in England may have looked like before the late 14th century based on tiny fragments of paint that survived the horrific "scrape" of the Victorian era.

It's incredible just how on the ball trans people were about those US think tanks influencing British politics, going to great length to detail all these links and connections, only for it to fall on deaf ears because of how aggressively trans people were frozen out and disenfranchised.
bittersweet seeing parts of the lethargic british press sluggishly get around to wondering if US far-right religious think tanks are working to influence british politics. they are, yes! it is not secret! do your jobs better!

Our feature artist/tutorial today is this ESSENTIAL reference on FORESHORTENING ARMS, by the talented @kato_anatomy! It’s IMPOSSIBLE to foreshorten accurately unless you understand the CHANGING CROSS-SECTIONS of the forms you’re LOOKING ALONG, so this guide is PURE GOLD! #manga

Sleep is a biological necessity, and sleep deprivation has real physical, psychological, and social consequences that need to be taken seriously. The way our society treats it as slothful to sleep according to natural rhythms (including midday naps and variant chronotypes like night owls) is evil.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

When you think of victorian London, you will probably think of cobblestone streets, but did you know that many streets were actually paved with wood? Wood was preferred to stone because it generated less noise from horse and cart traffic.
Some remnants of wooden pavement survived throughout London.

I think about this song often and how much less toxic pop culture and fandom discourse would be if more people listened to Lisa and Paul Anka's advice here.

Great turnout today - right now! - in Barcelona, protesting Trump’s dictator actions.
We will restore democracy.
I estimate we’ve had ~250 people here, though some more have stopped through. Barcelona has just over 7,000 residents who are from the U.S.

It took all day but I've now finished making the wood columns that will go onto the front of the gothic table clock. I still need to make two turrets and four feet on the wood lathe, but I think one of the most difficult parts is now done. #woodworking #DIY #clocks
