As a Canadian I feel I can say this - these people are weird, no? Like, WEIRD. This one and that other short weasel one with glasses who shares some we don't touch our wangs app with his son, and the always yelling blond lady, who I expect her cross necklace is one 'thankful' away from alighting.
Dr Oz: "Turns out that about 1/3 families don't have the number of babies they desire. They're under-babied. So this president committed to address that during the campaign and he's delivering on that today."
your FB*I agent appreciates the clarification.

Bring back mass market paperback size! I can fit that shit in a coat pocket. I don't need a hard copy unless it's a collector's item of a novel I love, or I need another door stop.
My strongest book-related belief is that the paperback should come first and then the hardback after for people who want a fancy edition.
it's so insane. Like, mentally unwell of people to think such things. Sociologically how we got here is fascinating but also terrifying.
Anyway, my tights! I bought a new pair and chose the largest size at the store bc I don't trust modern sizing and whoo let me tell you if the largest size according to this brand is to fit the sizing it claims, we have a huge problem. I could barely get them on to my knees, let alone to my waist.
I was going to start the day with complaining about my tights. Later. However, I think ppl should see this bc a, get off X and b. This is one of the vilest things I’ve come across, it made me recoil. This is a disgusting display of well, so many things. Sick.

as someone who was a teenage girl on the internet, i think making AI-generated revenge porn of a minor should get you the electric chair actually

A Brief History of Let’s Bring Back The Good Old Days

🧵
I remain perplexed that a government can “shut down”. Like that makes no sense to me at all. I, a citizen of the parliamentary system know oddities abound but you’re the government. In my world this would breed a leadership crisis, a collapse of govt and an election.
I love going over the Fraser and thinking, wow, it’s just straight down there and these little doors to hold us in. Specially on the old trains that sound like a dump truck.

Greta was stripped and had soldiers film themselves with her while Israel's far-right minister Ben-Gvir screamed at her. Absolutely degrading sexual abuse and the Swedish foreign minister's reaction is essentially "she asked for it".
Aftonbladet's interview with Greta Thunberg is now available in English - it raises many serious questions, not least about the Swedish govt. effectively abandoning its citizens to torture because it doesn't agree with their politics. A thundering disgrace.

Visa and Mastercard have the opportunity to do something really funny.
Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

Also pretty sure Sam there opens with, fuck mental health. I could be wrong. Maybe I’m being too sensitive. Let me ask ChatGPT.
I dunno literary but if you are a reader and tell me you don’t have a library card or haven’t been in a library in decades I will judge you.

And the loss of the mass market paperback book size is a straight line to (consumerism) booktok.
Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat
Signed it the other day! People trying to be wacky everywhere, Huma.
It’s Thanksgiving today and that means a lot of mish mash movies on the tv and like Christmas, mindless snacking.

But, we should hate less on League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (I know it’s not its source!). Every time I see it I will stop to watch it. I find it a perfect cheeseball afternoon movie.
Tbf she was the one all over the social media tour of this. Same with Greta Lee. I forgot Leto was in this until I saw a commercial on Friday.
They are going to have to lobotomize me if they want me to use Ai.
Babe, did you not leave that job yet???
If you have yet to read One Day Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This I encourage you to seek it out in any form. Or begin with the essay below. So many people I know have been silent. I will not forget that when they speak out now.
Honored to publish this essay by Omar El Akkad adapted from his stunning book, “One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This,” in Hidden Cities, a new publication that aims to illuminate the world.
