i really resent the continued assertion that there’s so much anger on both sides, as if the causes of the anger are equally legitimate. we’re angry because masked maniacs are violently snatching our family and neighbors off the street, and they’re angry because we’re calling them out for it.

Tear gassing random residential streets is just absolutely psychotic behavior.

All Republicans are bad; none of them have principles. They will let Trump do whatever he wants because they would rather rule in hell than serve in heaven. Trump is the only way their politics survives, and their willing subjugation to Trump is how he survives.
Are any of remaining Republicans, some of whom were pro-military folks at all concerned that as the Regime goes Russian / Chinese we adopt their levels of corruption and poor outcomes for the military?

This is real.

Ross Douthat begins by attacking Obama for his Chicago presidential center and then waves away concerns about historical preservation and the absence of input for the White House ballroom project by using an “abundance liberalism” argument about permitting processes being restrictive.

For context, annual military compensation is about $600 billion. So $130 million is about $100 per service member or 0.02% of total annual costs. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/25/u...
Once the precedent of not paying the troops according to the rules is created, bad things follow. $130 million is not a large portion of military salary, but sends the message to troops that Trump and his buddies are personally paying them.

This document is … insane? Incredible?

In it the USG shakes down a university for $1.17 BILLION “to avoid legal action” and dictates how hiring, promotion, admissions, scholarships, and CURRICULA REVIEW will be conducted. It stipulates how and when students can protest on campus.

It is un-American

Federal employees are struggling because they don't know when they'll receive their next paycheck.

Instead of coming back to work to negotiate a deal to reopen the government, Republican leaders announced they’re taking a sixth week of vacation.
It's supposed to be payday for many federal workers. Instead, they're getting nothing
Roughly 1.4 million federal workers are going without pay due to the government shutdown. About half of them are furloughed, while the other half has been deemed essential and is working without pay.

- Jack Smith was in the Hague prosecuting Kosovo war crimes

- Monaco was in private practice in LA

There was no Biden administration yet, crooked or otherwise.

Here's a thought. The 22nd Amendment says, "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice." Trump claims he was rightfully elected in 2020, in which case he's actually ineligible for the third term he's currently serving.
Republicans absolutely plan to circumvent the U.S Constitution and have Trump run in 2028 like the 22nd Amendment doesn’t exist.

When they do, and I say this with love and respect for these individuals, there is only one person Democrats should field. It’s not Harris, Newsom, Moore, or Pritzker.
Harris hints that she may run for president again.

The Democrat, who lost to Trump in 2024, told the BBC she is “not done” with politics.

the degree to which people nominally affiliated with the democratic party have decided that embracing misogyny is Good Politics probably shouldn't have surprised me, but it still has
i think i would honestly find this whole discourse more tolerable if people simply said what they were actually saying, which is that they think the Democratic Party is too associated with femininity (and secondarily, with black people) and that they want to correct this
