Second time of trying to donate - not to be churlish but I have ME/PEM so an ApplePay link would be so much easier than having to input all my contact details and then go find a card and input all that as well.
I will donate later once I’m up and about and can face all the typing. Kind regards 💙

11/22/21, Medical News Today: 'Through my eyes: Long neuro-COVID'

'My heart rate would increase further, to 170 bpm, on standing and with minimal exertion, such as getting a drink or using the bathroom.'

'I haven’t watched TV or driven in 10 months.'

…No wonder the establishment (the real one, not the pretend one Reform evoke when it suits them) are cacking their pants. This is what an actual grassroots movement looks like.

Extraordinary. The Greens are ahead of Labour in polls. Without @zackpolanski.bsky.social being given hours of airtime per week on a propaganda channel. Without the Daily Mail repeatedly calling for him to be the next PM. Without backing from the world’s richest men & the platforms they own….

FARMS (FUNCAP 27, A Repeat Measure Survey)
re has been a significant gap in the ability of clinicians to quantify (put a numbe eneray capacity and faticablity of peone with ME CFS and LC. This imbacts research and clinicians trying to check response to physical and medical therapies. The deve ooment of the FUNCAP 27 questionne re revo utionised now peode assess their own abilities and represents the best method of data collection.
he FUNCAP 27, is a 27 item questionnaire that asks about your ability an onsequences of completing 27 different tasks. The FUNCAP 27 was developed in close onsultation with patient advocates and represents one of the best and most usefu vestionnaires to date. We believe that the FUNCAP 27 has the ability to assess enerd tates beyond the month time frame originally intended by the tool's creators. We plan to ise the FUNCAP 27 to measure a person's percention (awareness) of their eneral capacity at a single point in time and will measure how this changes at 2 separate time points over a period of 6 weeks. Participants will have 4 hours on each occasion to complete the survey. The first measurement will be completed when you are experiencing post exertional malaise (PEM), and the other when you are well, PEM is experienced when someone with ME/CFS or LC over-exerts themselves physically, cognitively or emotionally resulting in a delayed onset worsening of symptoms that is often out of proportion in severity and duration to the initial stressor.

Well, there’s always the option of accusing them of utter irrational prejudice for ‘unconscious’ reasons.

Though personally I think they’ve been overdetermined by ideas floating around in their subcultural soup but have yet to make a cartoon about thae Gordion knot.

#ME #IntergenerationalTrauma
Title - This Week in Disbelief..

This is a cartoon in 3 vertical sections -

Section 1 title - "The Most Hated Doctor in Britain" has been appointed by a Labour government as vice-chair of an investigation into whether mental health problems and neurodivergence are being
OVERDIAGNOSED.

Section 2 title - Prof Simon Wessely, the careerist punitive psychiatrist whose views on #MEcfs have led to decades of underfunding, medical ignorance.
unnecessary disability and definitely preventable deaths. seems wedded to these powerful persecutory roles.

Section 3 title - How can we understand this commitment to coercion from a doctor?
Does he perhaps:
• Crave recognition from powerful groups?
• Struggle with unresolved trauma?
• Chase career and social gains?
• Lack self-awareness & empathy?
• Think the ends justify the means?

In the bottom right hand corner is wise Cat who’s saying “Or perhaps he's just a dick?!”

MAESTRO Study Seeking Participants

The Tal Research Group at MIT — headed by Dr. Mikki Tal and home of our Annual Meeting's guest speaker, Beth Pollack — is conducting the largest clinical study in MIT's history. The MAESTRO study aims to increase our understanding of the base causes of chronic infectious illness. The study is ongoing, and they are still seeking participants who have Long COVID, acute or chronic Lyme disease, and healthy controls.

If you are interested in participating in this study, you can find more information here.
