Yes. The appeal is never having to grow up or accommodate yourself to the needs or interests of others. It is enormously appealing, apparently. And not just to young people.
fishkin.bsky.social
It truly appears that the desire to say this sort of stuff without being socially ostracized and so on has been a main driver of one side of our politics from the "anti-PC" 1990s all the way through the "anti-woke" / "anti-DEI" present.

A true political juggernaut, this desire certain people have.

Some of those people are currently on the staff of elected Republicans, in fact. They’re part of the present of the GOP.

Q: Politico reported on a group chat of young Republicans. Does this just reflect some bad apples?

HOCHUL: Some bad apples? These are the future of the GOP. This is so vile it's hard to find the words to put into context ... there's gotta be consequences ... this bullshit has to stop.

Immigration is good and we need to say so. It is in our best interest when people want to come to this country to make a better life for themselves. My family story is the shtelt to the American dream in three generations. Other people should have this opportunity, too.

Trump on immigrants: "They send up their worst people. They send up people that are criminals. They send up people from jails. And the best ones they send are people that don't work very hard and that are on a social form of welfare."

Either we’re concerned about the lack of detailed policy answers & access to the media, or we’re not. But it can’t be that we only clutch pearls about these things for the one pro-democracy party we have left in 🇺🇸. Democracy can’t survive that. We need to do better.

Literally nothing coming from the Pentagon, DHS, or DOJ should be considered credible unless backed up by an independent source outside of government. (This, for the record, is a huge problem!)

I have resisted @mtsw.bsky.social’s theory. I want to believe most journalists are well-intentioned & this is not deliberate. But it’s very hard to maintain that position in light of the daily free passes Trump, Mike Johnson, John Thune, JD Vance, etc. keep getting. The double standard is glaring.

When prices were going up under Biden there was a constant deluge of news stories about it because the media did not like Biden and wanted him to lose. Under Trump there is not a constant deluge of news stories about coffee prices because they like Trump and want him to win
delrayser.bsky.social
everything is on fire these days, sure, but how is it that 50% of all news stories are not about how I just spent $20 on a bag of store brand coffee at fucking costco

When you strip everything else away, the problem is that we have treated all of this as fine for only This One Special Boy. No one else, & certainly not a single Democrat anywhere in the country, would be permitted to do this stuff every day w/o it being a nonstop national scandal. Why is that? 🤷‍♂️

Aug/Sep 2024 was consumed by obsessive complaining about how Kamala Harris wasn't doing enough media interviews & not answering enough detailed policy questions on tarmacs (bsky.app/profile/mcop...). Imagine the reaction if she had said, "I won't answer questions from biased media outlet" 🤷‍♂️🤔
mcopelov.bsky.social
👇🎯 Once again, isn’t everyone glad that the media spent August/September 2024 laser focused on the supposed problem that Kamala Harris was not answering enough questions about the detailed specifics of her economic policy positions?

Trump has no legal authority, "standing" or otherwise, to order the killing of people in international waters for unsubstantiated accusations of non-capital crimes.

Calling them "narcoterrorists" does not make it right or legal to order their deaths without any due process.

If the U.S. has all these extra soybeans, might as well make cooking oil out of them. But that would compete with other vegetables oils, harming those U.S. farmers. Could always make more margarine and Crisco, but those compete with Big Dairy and Big Hog

In conclusion, stupid tariff wars are stupid

Federal officials telling social media companies to take down posts was supposedly a free speech crisis. It’s not even really hypocrisy, since the right was lying about much of it.
And this isn’t misinformation, foreign influence ops, or public health, just 1A-protected speech the govt doesn’t like.

The group, "ICE Sighting-Chicagoland," has been increasingly used in the last five weeks of President Donald Trump’s intense deportation campaign to warn neighbors that federal agents are nearby.
