Yes, however academics have been studying degrowth for some time and we have never even considered replacing our Ponzi scheme, go-go-growth, rather malignant economy with economic sustainability, for instance. There are growing models for handling this gracefully in ways that make everyone happier.

My problem with Strib writer Evan Ramstad's fear of population stagnation in Minnesota is that healthy, happy, educated women choose to have smaller families. Despite what pro-natalists say, women are not breeding stock for corporate profit.

Wow. First Paris, now London, cities which were utter roadway disasters in the 1970s. Between constant near-death pedestrian experiences and stepping around Parisian dog poop, it's wonderful these cities have transformed their sidewalks, streets and themselves.

The most backward thing about Minnesota is that we let outstate/suburban conservatives control city safety and infrastructure. So we'll get a big new stinky, loud I-94 thru MSP, no gun control, and a net drain on our tax contributions to keep rural communities (and their roads) solvent.

Nonprofits and nonprofit business associations generally avoid bringing up unusually beneficial funding relationships rife with conflicts, but if ever there were a time to review city ordinances and operations related to this org, that time is several decades ago. Are there any reporters left?

Maybe the people who fund their conservative PAC contributions could redirect their cash to the Aquatennial. After all, it was established by the Downtown Council's precursor org to distract the working classes from rebelling against local businesses and their poor treatment of laborers.
