as far as i know (i looked into it when i switched to tidal a few years ago), they don't pay from a royalty pool, they pay per stream. so AI music wouldn't affect anyone else's money

just saying that as a practical tip because I wouldn't want people to download and immediately go "oh the algorithm is worse" and give up. also you can use www.tunemymusic.com to transfer your whole music library

i will say, the discovery algorithm isn't as good as spotify's when it comes to the "discover new music" playlists they generate for you (they do it daily instead of weekly). however the algorithm that generates a "radio" playlist based on a song or artist is great, so i find new music through that

another thing about TIDAL is the audio quality is noticeably better than spotify, even to me, someone who knows nothing about audio quality. i've been using it for years and i love it!

TIDAL is a great alternative to Spotify. They don't run ICE ads or invest in murder drones.

Bonus: they pay musicians more fairly!

Another bonus: their "shuffle" feature doesn't prioritize content based on advertising algorithms.
