As we head into the new academic year in Australia, I'd like to reshare this document of #neurodivergent study tips that I compiled.

It's based entirely on tips by neurodivergent people, and I have had learning advisors tell me it was very helpful and had good info.

It felt like an extremely radical thing to say "you can just not teach them how to use this. i don't even know what it means to teach them AI skills but you can also just not. it might make your students more hireable, honestly."

But this idea that it's a tool whose existence justifies its use?
You can just say no 💯
I was with a panel of people who were all making good arguments about why AI will never replace this or that skill or job, so maybe we'll be okay, and I finally said to one teacher: "you can just say no. you don't have to use it. it steals from people and teaches no skills. it's not a good tool."
Woah, how cool!
Scientists just found several fossil bumblebees covered in pollen that directly matches fossil flowers nearby.

The 24-million-year-old discovery reveals the oldest known evidence connecting pollinators to the pollinated.

These ancient bumblebees were found with their pollen source
Insects have long pollinated plants, but evidence of ancient pairing is rare. Fossils now show bees and linden trees goes back 24 million years.

Feels like an interrelated thing - making things 'easier' makes it easier to engage in this one thing, but when that one thing gets left behind or breaks - now what?
Anecdotally, but something I've noticed of the current gen going through university is that they have a lot less tech literacy than my generation did. They've grown up with tech from the start but because a lot of it is so much simpler to use now its harder for them to troubleshoot?

There is not a single reason to outsource your creativity to a computer.

Not one.

To do so removes the very point of being creative in the first place.

Periodic reminder: if you get a generic that is less effective for you, of any medicine, filing a Form 3500 with the FDA's MedWatch if you're able contributes to getting non-bioequivalent generics pulled from the market: www.fda.gov/safety/medic...
Me, currently drinking protein powder: gdi

This is an excellent image
Even trying to parse it as an adult to see what it could be saying if it wasn’t nonsense is difficult with how much it’s all nonsense
I’d say that is covered under a mental health day so a health day tbh, they don’t need to know the details

Do not ever apologize for sharing your art, even when world events are awful.

I know I still feel badly about it, but think of what you’d tell a friend. You’d tell them to share their joy, right?

“You don’t look sick”.

Chronic illness is often invisible

Many disabilities are invisible

People can look “fine” on the outside and have devastating disease processes inside their body

They can be living in constant pain, fatigue & exhaustion
