If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

If you told this person that there used to be a book, published annually and given away for free, listing every person who lived in your town by last name alphabetically, including their street address and telephone number, a book everyone voluntarily sent their info to, they would not believe you.

Don't forget, there's a whole generation who has grown up knowing nothing but a phone in their pocket and 'wtf is a "land line"?'

My workplace is no-cellphones (for emissions security) so I either memorise numbers or they're on a list by the VOIP phone.

A wise woman told me to not worship people and idolize people but rather to worship good actions

People are human and when you worship people rather than their good actions, you will become blind when they do something very wrong and do a 180 from who you thought they were

More and more I see it

If you're able, please consider a donation to the Alaska Community Fund to help people in western Alaska impacted by ex-typhoon Halong even as winter is bearing down. All the money donated goes to the region. Quyana. #Alaska #AlaskaSky

Screen shot of the ACF Western Alaska Disaster Relief 2025 Fund:

"In response to recent severe storms, including Typhoon Halong, that devastated Alaska's western coast, local community organizations and regional partners have come together to establish the Western Alaska Disaster Relief Fund, housed at the Alaska Community Foundation.
Two major storm systems struck western Alaska in rapid succession, bringing record flooding, extreme winds, and extensive damage from Kwigillingok to Kotzebue. Homes have been damaged and destroyed, critical infrastructure compromised, and subsistence resources disrupted. The Western Alaska Disaster Relief Fund will provide support to affected communities for immediate relief, recovery support, and long-term resilience, including disaster preparedness initiatives. Distribution decisions will be guided by advisors including regional leaders and stakeholders, ensuring resources reach affected communities based on locally identified needs.

The Western Alaska Disaster Relief Fund brings together a growing list of local, regional, and statewide partners endorsing the fund, including:

    Association of Village Council Presidents
    Alaska Federation of Natives
    Alaska Native Heritage Center
    Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium
    Bethel Community Services Foundation
    Calista Corporation
    Healthy Alaska Natives Foundation
    First Alaskans Institute
    Kawerak, Inc.

    Maniilaq Association

The trailblazing transgender rights activist Miss Major has passed away at the age of 78.

Miss Major was a lifelong organizer and participant in the ballroom scene. She took part in the 1969 Stonewall Riots and was injured by the police — but she kept fighting.

Very sad and 51 is too young. Brown Sugar remains an album that represented the finest of mid-90s R&B. "Lady" is still one of my jams. Rest peacefully, D'Angelo! 🕯🌹

California, this November 4th, the whole country is counting on you.

Prop 50 puts our elections back on a level playing field, preserves independent redistricting over the long term, and lets the people decide.

So return your ballot today. Vote yes on 50.

Six years ago, Uganda announced a bill to legalize murdering gay people. The National Christian Organization paid a preacher to go to Uganda and help their lawmakers with the bill. Chick-fil-A funds The National Christian Org.

If you eat at Chick-fil-A, this is what your money goes to.

Madame VP has zero fucks left to give. Neither to I or anyone who's had it with the ratfuckers who brought us to the edge of a precipice. Go harass Trump about your imaginary pet issue. Oh right. You know he doesn't GAF so you'll continue to go after the woman whose campaign you sabotaged. FU all.

Happy Thanksgiving to my northern neighbors that I envy a little more with every passing day. 🍂 🍁 🦃

Did you know the first thanksgiving celebrated by Europeans in North America happened in Canada?
Or that the Indigenous celebrated autumn harvests long before Europeans arrived?
Why do we celebrate Thanksgiving a month earlier than the United States?
This is the story.

Some weirdo on Twitter has been absolutely melting down for like 36 straight hours because I posted:

When this is over, do not forget what ICE did, and what ICE is. And do not make room for them in society. Make sure they know that they are, and will continue to be, reviled and beneath contempt.

Kamala is all out of f*cks and I’m here for it 🔥

We see you, @codepink.bsky.social

Your paid performative agitators pop up on her book tour like they think we don’t know the VP’s job.

The VP doesn’t set Middle East policy, the President does. The VP’s role is to support the President, period.

Mostly this but I still remain bitter about 2016 & those who voted for TFG or didn't vote. The Supreme Court would've looked different, and had Hillary won, Roe v Wade likely would've remained in law.

The dread I felt after Election night 2016...I thought it wouldn't be topped until 2024. 🤦‍♀️

SO AGAIN, FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK:

Substack promotes, pays, and profits off *literal* nazis. It's the nazi bar of online publishing platforms. Use someone else for yr newsletters.
