We're stuck in a cycle where Democrats are herald as the savior of all during a crisis, get voted in to salvage what's left after a Republican admin, and then when things have settled into some degree of calm, the apathy returns full force and another Republican gains entrance to the Oval.

Simon Tisdall says people are disappointed in democracy.

But democracy is only the echo of a majority voice. If more vote for bad than for good, bad wins. Many Americans deliberately silence themselves by not voting, through apathy, ignorance, or anger. They won't eat but wonder why they're hungry.

The irony is too many could have signed up for mail-in ballots, the equivalent of Doordash democracy, and chose not to bother to participate in the most convenient and passive manner possible. Apathy and laziness are a chronic disease infecting our election process. The cure remains elusive.

Jorge Ruiz’s blood alcohol level was far below the legal threshold for intoxication.

When his lawyers looked at similar car crash cases, they found that although Ruiz had the lowest amount of alcohol in his system, his sentence was by far the longest.
