Hi! I'm Laur and I'm a storyboard artist with experience in both 2D and CG scripted animated action/adventure TV shows, now working in feature. You can find samples of my work in the next few skeets.

so it's like condensing tdk's characters into this one kaido just like how the characters condenses their entire lives into this 100m/10s

Kaido(100m) is very funny for me because I keep joking that he's running nanami and he also has those conical glasses like jjk nanami and he never shows his eyes just like another tsudaken character called INUI except his name is KAIDO (different kanji)

LRP Ever since I missed the first 5 minutes of a Digimon movie a few years back because it had zero commercials, trailers, AMC ads, or Nicole Kidman- I never walked in late to another anime movie again.

so I strolled into my 7pm showing of 100 Meters at 7:05, expecting to have missed a couple of shitty car commercials at minimum. but alas, dear reader: there had been no commercials. I was 5 minutes late to the actual movie itself.

I spoke with 100 Meters director Kenji Iwaisawa about the artistry that Studio Rock’N Roll Mountain underwent to bring the upcoming @gkids.com anime film to life.
IC: Rotoscoping has deep roots in animation history—often traced back to early horse motion studies. What made rotoscope animation feel like an intuitive choice for 100 Meters, especially in capturing the kinetic intensity and emotional rhythm of running and character acting?

KI: When I first started this project, I didn’t really know if rotoscoping would match it. But I think what worked out was not really when they’re racing, but, for example, the rain sequence—what happens before the race—or what happens after the race when they’re cooling down. I really thought rotoscoping matched those scenes better. I think that’s what works for the movie. 100 Meters rain sequence still.

managed to make it to my theaters for the final showing of 100M(100 Meters) and god it was so fucking worth it. maybe my anime movie of the year. Uoto captivated me with what I've read of Orb, and to see that he had the sauce with his first serialized manga has me dying to read more.

100 Meters is very easily comparable to Look Back. But I think it touches on something more universal—not just for athletes, but for anyone with the courage to pick themselves up from success and failure and try again.

My review:
Like Look Back, 100 Meters scratches the itch of watching two people from wildly different walks of life wrestle with maintaining their passion. But where Tatsuki Fujimoto’s work spirals into grief and artistic obsession, 100 Meters stays grounded in the purity of the 100-meter dash, a brutally simple sport where runners have just ten seconds to prove they’re the fastest and etch their name into history. If someone’s a hair quicker, or your body fails you, you’re forgotten in the blink of an eye.

Although 100 Meters flirts with the ephemeral glory of being the best in a sport predicated on “who’s on top right now” over who once was, it never wallows in the futility of the Sisyphean pursuit of greatness. Even in its most agonizing defeats and major setbacks, it refuses to become grim. Instead, it finds beauty in the act of picking yourself back up and starting again—to compete not for legacy, but for love. For the joy of movement, and to run shoulder to shoulder with the like-minded people beside you.

100 METERS is good! like on-gaku x 100, but uoto’s source material sets it apart. makes me want to go back and read the rest of orb

Lauryn Hill just shared a moving tribute to the late D’Angelo:

People need reflection.

I regret not having more time with you. Your undeniable beauty and talent were not of this world, and a presence not of this world needs protection in a world that covets light and the anointing of God. You sir, moved us, stirred us, inspired and even intimidated others to action with your genius. Thank you for being a beacon of light to a generation and beyond who had no
remembrance of the legacy that preceded us. Thank you for charting the course and for making
space during a time when no similar space really existed.
You imaged a unity of strength and sensitivity in Black manhood to a generation that only saw itself as having to be one or the other. It is my earnest prayer that you are in peace, far away from selfishness, fear and/or controlling interests. Far from possessiveness, far from greed, far from manipulation, far from exploitation, far from intentionally designed chaos and that you Brother are in peace, in bliss and in eternal light and fulfillment with our Father in heaven. I Love you and I miss you. May God grant peace and shelter to your family, true friends and genuine appreciators, Brother, King. A photo of Lauryn Hill and D’Angelo, wearing black

And the more time and energy they spend dealing with those hostile crowds, the less time they have to kidnap our neighbors and loved ones.

If you want something positive, I'd say that the current DHS strategy of using excessive force has been extremely counterproductive. Rather than actually detaining people, they're now spending significant time and resources dealing with hostile crowds wherever they go.
