It's also ridiculous since DC has their Kodansha crossover books that have the Kodansha logo on the spine but have crinkly paper that is more in line with their old CMX releases. Very much feels like DC not knowing manga print specs.

I got that Long Halloween compact last week and it's crazy how nice it is for that size and price.

Update on Project Pixel Panels: Almost done creating the regular version. I think this is going to be your next indie font selection.

My grand theory is that 6.5 is the ideal rating on IMDb for an interesting movie because it means it alienated idiots. If you’d like proof: Almost every Kiyoshi Kurosawa movie is rated between 6.3-6.9.
The IMDb for Pulse, rated 6.5 The IMDb for bright future, rated 6.7 The IMDb for license to live, rated 6.9 The IMDb for cloud, rated 6.4

Readers of Otonari Complex may notice this clever reference to the Bionicle character Thok.
A panel of Otonari Complex with a young man talking. There are skins effects that's read THOK.

How you read a manga, a superhero comic, and a webtoon are different due to the different design approaches in the lettering. And if a letterer understands that, is consistent, and adheres to those different styles, a reader won't even notice that they've hopped from one design language to another.

For the longest time I wondered why the comic font Whizbang has such an intense italic slant. Way more than most italic variants. Then I realized that it was a near-exact match for John Costanza's lettering and he just did that. Lol at how strong that shear is!

SHELVED BY GENRE has completed the second half of THE SAGA OF THE SWAMP THING, in which Alan Moore & Co expand the character's mythology, making some truly baffling and ill-advised choices but also giving us some of the coolest-looking Swamp Things ever put on paper. rangedtouch.com/2025/10/10/s...

Bueno, esto es para que algunas editoriales españolas aprendan y tomen ejemplo de que acreditar a los rotulistas no mata .

I'd call them inward tails. Most western comics use off panel tails or avoid covering the speaker the tail is meant to point to, so I haven't had the opportunity to try them. Inward tails are pretty neat and, if done well, can be easy to understand in manga and indie books who draw from that style.

I’ve never seen this before! An *inward-indicating* word-balloon tail (that’s the speaker’s right arm descending below the word balloon).

FASCINATING! Does this tail technique have a name? Have folks seen it used elsewhere?? I have so many questions!!! (From HIRAYASUMI, book 3, pg 37)

Felt like an utter failure at trivia tonight not knowing whether Poltergeist or Nightmare on Elm Street came out first. Knew for sure that Friday the 13th was the earliest and Child's Play was last of the four.
