I just took a walking tour with @fullstorybaltimore.tours (highly recommend), and steeping yourself in history helps you realize that history has had a lot of bad in it and maybe your era is only, like, third worst. It comforted me. Weirdly.

Go book one for myriad reasons.

Being weird and silly is enraging to authoritarians and always has been. When you do it en masse? Well it sends them into the death cycle because it proves they couldn't silence you with fear and intimidation. So bring on the frogs and inflatables this weekend! 🐸🐸🐸

Look I've been holding off from months asking this on Bluesky because of my pride but I need help.

My car needs brakes, my rent is past due and my step kid needs shoes.

I hate having to ask this

This is a real doozy of a story. This family uses a # of Delaware business entities (and DE lawyers, and DE politicians) to stash their fortune in the US.

One of my colleges has a nursing program so the library has CINAHL. Someone in accounting just declined the CINAHL renewal as a "discretionary" expense. Not if you want the nursing program to keep its accreditation, it's not. 📚 #Skybrarians

Automatic captions make it difficult to watch videos because the viewer is forced to decipher misspelled or mistranslated words that appear in a string of text without any punctuation. These can be distracting and disorienting. Always edit your captions before publishing.

For the last five years, people being released from Cook County Jail have gotten out later and later at night.

In 2021, ~14% of people got out between 11 pm and 3 am. In 2024, ~40% of all releases took place in those wee hours.

My latest, for @chicagoreader.com

And, again, maybe the immediate answer here isn't "train on more disabled users' faces!" but rather perhaps stopping and thinking "hey maybe a sociotechnical paradigm that is literally predicated on and made of unending surveillance and a demand for certain 'right kinds' of bodies is bad actually 🤔"

I only saw D'Angelo live one time. It was the Voodoo Tour, on the Pier here in Seattle. I remember that at some point he went into the crowd, and all the women screamed and jumped onto their chairs. When they got back down and I could see again he was back on stage with no shirt.
