drowning in games all of a sudden, really looking forward to playing this one. I haven't seen many impressions of it so far, hoping it's a bit more arcade tuned than Salamander 3 but it'll at least look sick regardless
...and here's a Night Striker Gear trailer www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oxol... in short, think Salamander III, Haunted Castle Revisited, Contra/Castlevania/Gradius Rebirth, etc but for Night Striker

it's also worth noting that M2's self-publishing, making this their first independent Steam STG release

it's also worth mentioning that Night Striker Gear was directed Ikaruga/Radiant Silvergun/Gradius V director Hiroshi Iuchi—M2 recently admitted they kept quiet on Iuchi's involvement with Gear bc they knew it'd raise questions about the status of Iuchi's forever-WIP (11+yrs!) original STG, Ubusuna
I only saw this with Black Label, extra bad if it's multiple modes 😬

huh, Live Wire actually got around to adding online leaderboards to their Cave ports on Switch: not just Dodonpachi Saidaioujou, but also Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu/Resurrection, Mushihimesama & Espgaluda 2, which have all been delisted for a minute
i really like Clock Tower and the optional "Rewind" alterations are cool but this release has some baffling menu stuff. weird out-of-game saving that makes it easy to trip up on game progress and very obnoxious "gallery unlocked" messages that fully cover the still-running game screen at key moments
Clock Tower: Rewind is $9.99 on US eShop buff.ly/zfHepqH

PS5/PS4/Switch/XSX physical $46 at VGP buff.ly/LU6Bzwk
there are like 200 people playing classic PSO right now, good for them
i really love DOSBox Pure, this rules
First release of DOSBox Pure Unleashed, a standalone version of the DOSBox Pure RetroArch core, is here.
It offers loading from archives, configuration menus, mouse & keyboard mapping for controllers, save states, screen filters, and other convenient features.

it's jaggy as hell since it's a field-rendered ps2 game, but it has a lot of colorful environments and boss designs and kinda unsurprisingly reminds me of ninja gaiden 2004 visually
beat Rygar PS2 the other day, pretty cool game and an interesting one for 2002 for sure
played some late night credits of ketsui and wound up playing out of my mind. hit the second score extend for the first time and hit stage 5 for the first time
eternally unreasonably hopeful for ubusuna
M2's teasing something...

my guess is a date for standalone Night Striker Gear, but lord knows they have a massive backlog of things they ought to be talking about: Zaleste (still on for this yr, as of right now) Aleste Branch (years overdue), Ubusuna (announced 11yrs ago...)
nosferatu really has to be a top 3 snes game

City Connection's Psikyo ports will be leaving Steam on October 31 psikyo-portal.com/notice_25101... the console versions will remain available (for now, at least)

it wasn't heavily advertised by either party but CC sold Psikyo successor studio Zerodiv to Edia earlier this year

I have so many feelings about Itagaki’s passing, a flawed person that helped make one of my all time favorite games, but I do think the timing of it happening right before a Ninja Gaiden game was finally released, much of it seemingly outsourced to Platinum, makes the feelings more bittersweet.

Tomonobu Itagaki - the legendary, iconic creator of Dead or Alive, the Ninja Gaiden reboot, and Devil's Third - has passed away, aged 58.

A statement from him to be shared in the event of his death has been shared.

A peek at GAME FREAK (Yep, *that* Game Freak!) tips 'zine issue 22 from 1985 where the solution to arcade Time Gal is lovingly and painstakingly illustrated and written out scene-by scene. 💜
seeing a lot of thoughts about this flying around today so i just wanna be clear on my thoughts from skimming the review and playing the demo: the full review suggests to me that this is not my kind of game, and separately i disagree with suggestions that it reflects an arcade style of design

i obviously don't think two loops are necessarily a bad thing, but what the review describes isn't even particularly analogous to makaimura doing that
Spoilers for Absolum, but you actually might want to spoil yourself on this, because this is some of the worst meta-progression bait I've ever heard of

(Also a great review overall, one that's for once made from the perspective who gave beat 'em ups a deeper shot)

I think I’m gonna do arcade guys and I am really glad I don’t have the money to get hooked on buying arcade cabinets because seeing some of these guys setup makes me jealous
