Tomorrow, SCOTUS will hear arguments in Louisiana v. Callais, a major threat to (what remains of) the 1965 Voting Rights Act. But this isn't the first time the VRA has faced dire threats; in 2013 and 2021, SCOTUS weakened other provisions. We can learn from those why Callais could be so dangerous 🧵

But Roberts and Kav will join the others and gut it in Louisiana v. Callais.

Same with Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act and Allen v. Milligan. Using racial classifications to create majority Black districts necessarily involves categorizing people based on their race and that's not fair to white people.

The Supreme Court rewrote the 14th Amendment so that it's no longer the pro-Black amendment it was intended to be, but rather bans all racial classification to the benefit of white people and detriment of everyone else.

We're about to undergo a wholesale rewriting of the Equal Protection Clause.
