In Little Rock, there were ordained ministers from episcopal, UMC, PC USA, Baptist (!) and Catholic priests all participating in the parade. They had also brought youth groups.

I can’t even capture the one in Charlottesville, VA which was TWICE as big as last time. We were a quarter mile down, lining the street, from the main group—and there were still tons of people (and chipmunks, unicorns, dinosaurs and aliens).

Statement from OpenAI and King Estate, Inc.

The Estate of Martin Luther King, Jr., Inc. (King, Inc.) and OpenAI have worked together to address how Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s likeness is represented in Sora generations. Some users generated disrespectful depictions of Dr. King’s image. So at King, Inc.'s request, OpenAI has paused generations depicting Dr. King as it strengthens guardrails for historical figures.

While there are strong free speech interests in depicting historical figures, OpenAI believes public figures and their families should ultimately have control over how their likeness is used. Authorized representatives or estate owners can request that their likeness not be used in Sora cameos.

OpenAI thanks Dr. Bernice A. King for reaching out on behalf of King, Inc., and John Hope Bryant and the AI Ethics Council for creating space for conversations like this.

Okay last squirrel post today I swear (I got to work early today so I was so excited to get out early, then I spent 40 minutes taking squirrel photos on the lawn outside of my office)

This Hermit Thrush is going full borb on a brisk morning.

Very round thrush, looking directly at the camera. It has light brown on the head, off-white on the rest of the visible body, dark gray light spots, and pink legs.

Same bird, now turned so you can see its red-brown wings and back and a redder tail. It is still very round.

“Our” little phoebe will sometimes land on this string of patio lights just 8 feet away if we don’t immediately see that it landed 20 feet away on the fence ready to catch a mealworm snack tossed in its direction. Ok, phoebe, yes I’ll get a snack 😂
