NEW: After The Washington Post reported Monday on the demolition of the "East Wing facade," a new picture obtained by Law Dork that was taken on Tuesday shows that a substantial portion of the entirety of the East Wing has been demolished.

also of course the frustration that most other public and private projects in 'historic' areas take years of bureaucratic battles, raising costs and delaying benefits. (I'm still salty the Potomac Yard metro station was delayed by probably 2 full years, first due to concerns about 'the viewshed'...

Between the artillery on I-5, the helicopter pilots hitting another plane near National and killing everyone on both aircraft, & even the nurderdeathkill thing going on with boats in the southern Caribbean, it seems like any culture of operational risk management has disappeared DoD wide.

Walking around DC & Alexandria w Rachel & Ebby over a decade ago, the largest friction point was 'we wait for the crosswalk light vs 'no we dont have too'. And yeah, I was in the first camp.
