One thing folks are going to need, strangely enough, will be storage totes.
Families are left, in too many cases, with nothing else except what they were able to carry to shelter.
As relief supplies come in they will need something to keep stuff in.

"In response to recent severe storms, including Typhoon Halong, that devastated Alaska's western coast, local community organizations and regional partners have come together to establish the Western Alaska Disaster Relief Fund, housed at the Alaska Community Foundation.
Two major storm systems struck western Alaska in rapid succession, bringing record flooding, extreme winds, and extensive damage from Kwigillingok to Kotzebue. Homes have been damaged and destroyed, critical infrastructure compromised, and subsistence resources disrupted. The Western Alaska Disaster Relief Fund will provide support to affected communities for immediate relief, recovery support, and long-term resilience, including disaster preparedness initiatives. Distribution decisions will be guided by advisors including regional leaders and stakeholders, ensuring resources reach affected communities based on locally identified needs.

The Western Alaska Disaster Relief Fund brings together a growing list of local, regional, and statewide partners endorsing the fund, including:

Western Alaska was hit hard by the recent storms. Houses floated away in Kipnuk, houses flipped over, people lost everything from the flooding that came with the storms. Please donate if you can. This group has a long history of supporting AK communities.

Yesterday Juneau voted to significantly cut the taxes to the local municipality. I can’t understand how the electorate is so easily swayed by rhetoric and lies, at all levels. The next few months and years are going to be difficult as our Assembly has to choose what city services live and die.

Voters favor sales tax exemption, reject seasonal sales tax in early results; Bryson and Brooks even in Assembly race

Whitney, Johnson and Cullum lead among five school board candidates with about 6,000 ballots counted; CBJ estimates 40-50% of ballots remain to be counted.

I usually end up submitting a mix of some popular ones that I also really like and the oddball ones that I love and possibly no one else will vote for. Although I may be tempted to pick 10 from I'm Your Fan, the Leonard Cohen cover album.😂

We know the city's finances. We think the stakes couldn't be higher in this year's local election.

This October, Juneau voters will have the chance to make some of the most consequential changes to our city government since Juneau and Douglas merged to form a borough in 1970.
