“the protests don’t count if they happen in blue cities.” so, what, they aren’t americans? their voices don’t matter?
Now that is some Friday good news!!!!
MAJOR NEWS: @GavinNewsom signed SB 79, my bill allowing more housing near public transit — rail, subway, rapid bus.

It’s a huge step for housing in California. It’ll create more homes, strengthen our transit systems & reduce traffic & carbon emissions.

Thank you, Governor!
I called again today, took two minutes! Let’s get this over the finish line and build some homes!
Reminder that @governor.ca.gov is reportedly considering vetoing SB79, the best housing bill to clear the CA legislature in decades.

It would be a *disaster*, substantively & for Newsom's political future. Really hope he doesn't self-immolate.

Tell him!

Tired: we must build more housing to defeat fascism

Wired: we must repeal Prop 13 to defeat fascism
Trump 2.0 has really exposed how brittle and broken the West Coast states' tax systems are. WA, OR, and CA all have a 1% property tax cap. WA has a sales tax but no income tax; OR has an income tax but no sales tax. It is not possible to effectively resist Trump without fixing these tax systems.
The news has sent counties throughout California into a panic. The state is bracing to lose hundreds of millions of dollars for permanent housing, which is the one thing experts agree on as the most effective way to solve homelessness. https://cal.news/4nBKuZI

This is so wonderful! She was my professor in the early ‘00s and one of the best profs I ever had. I’m so glad she’s still doing things like this!

We're done with public comment and it was almost universally supportive with the exception of the bird lady and one or two others.

Kind of incredible, honestly.

one way you could describe lincoln's approach is of never getting ahead of the public on its attitudes, but holding an immovable set of principles on where the country ought to be and where he hopes to lead it

Epicenter was … the Tilden Park Little Farm? Lots of pissed off goats right now 🐐🫨

Lots of OBs prescribe baby aspirin throughout the whole pregnancy to lower preeclampsia risks, too. Sure seems like they’re just trying to kill a bunch of pregnant women for no reason whatsoever.
This is not just a “what can I do in my deep blue area to influence a race across the country” thing, either. I’m a YIMBY and there’s a bunch of RFS local candidates in the Bay Area and Cali (finally!!) doing great work on our housing crisis. I want more folks like this in our politics!!
I’ve been a monthly recurring donor to RFS for years. Recently my husband was like “who should we be giving money to?? I know you’re all in on Run For Something” and I was like “…yeah, I would just donate to Run For Something”
Just FYI, @runforsomething.net is building the largest candidate pipeline in politics with nearly 250k people on our list considering a run for office - & our PAC is supporting nearly 300 state & local candidates in 2025 elections.

Our budget this year is about $7.5 million.
This morning as we loaded our kids on the cargo bike to take them to preschool, my five year old asked if he could ride his bike on Sunset Dunes after school today. Why people have to be so humbug and angry about children, community, and joy is beyond me.
It's infuriating that the recall people are acting like they're fighting monied interests when they ARE the monied interests! They're the incumbents preventing anyone from doing anything about housing costs and they're promoting a car-brained vision that's the antithesis of quality urban life!
All this so that someday maybe my grandchildren can work in a sweatshop making Red Heart, I guess
There’s still some lovely American dyers / wool producers but a lot fewer than there were even 5 years ago. Lots of mills closing and industry consolidation
I buy a ton of indie hand-dyed or locally spun yarn from small international businesses. All the Canadian, UK, Danish, and Australian (probably more) yarn companies (all small businesses) have stopped shipping to the US
Where the heck is Daniel Lurie on all this??
Reporter Eddie Kim went downtown to cover the detainment of an immigrant by ICE this morning.

Then he was pepper-sprayed in the face by an ICE agent standing a foot away. Completely unprovoked.

I reported from an ICE action on Sansome and all I got was a face full of pepper spray
Federal agents are stepping up their actions against protesters and, apparently, the press

We are blessed to live among Angels/Angeles.
LA has awakened the conscience of the nation.
LA has challenges the notion that people will not rise up for their immigrant neighbors but only, at best, for their own material interests.
LA has emboldened us to fight for freedom.

Speech of a lifetime from @governor.ca.gov, who truly met the moment tonight. I've been critical of Newsom in the past, but this is what we need to hear from governors and elected officials across the nation right now. www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXQQ...
