I could just ban him, but he's been a good participant for many years. It's not that I disbelieve him, it's that if he wasn't going to offer proof of his claims, he shouldn't have brought those claims to the table in the first place. So he's on thin ice right now. Otherwise, I'm just laughing.

Then, when anyone told him he needed to back up those accusations with evidence or else he wouldn't be taken seriously and could possibly be treading into defamatory behavior, he would start talking down to them, claiming they lacked comprehension and perspective.

Yep. I just finished (for now, at least) dealing with a guy in a debate group I run who has spent several days refusing to provide any evidence after leveling accusations against a local charity operator.

In other words, it's not a natural domestic market, it's something that the feds propped up as we sought to globalize our agriculture exports. Now, the hand that giveth also taketh away, as Trump's idiotic trade war has led our largest buyers to turn elsewhere. It is ENTIRELY Trump's fault.

I well remember the push to farm soy in the 90s and 00s. Our primary crops in Hillsdale County used to be corn and wheat, and we still have plenty of corn and wheat farms. But soy became a big business because the government made it affordable through subsidies.

Farmers grow what they grow because of farm policy.

We don’t need all the soy and corn that we grow, but those are the commodities that receive subsidies and markets.

If we want something better, if we want to heal the Earth and grow food, now is the time to do it.
