Remember folks. The original bluesky ethos by us bluesky elders (apparently I count?) is block and move on.

Don't quote dunk, don't pick fights.
Block, and move on.

This is what made this site unpalatable to the right early on, and we can continue to make it unpalatable to them.

btw: the point of the trump admin joining bluesky is to make you afraid, worried, and anxious

all this data was already public. nothing is actually different in that regard. keep having fun. don't be dumb. block & move on.

cis folks, raise your vigilance level for trans people as assholes show up.

vance to his kids: “it is okay to tell your friends you love hitler as long as you don’t get caught”
It's telling that Vance's first instinct following the Politico leak was to tell his sons to be wary of what they write in group chats--to assume “some scumbag is going to leak it in an effort to try to cause you harm.”

His message here is basically--be racist; just don't get caught.

we’re going to lose them anyway, this just makes it infinitely stupider and funnier
dawg we are gonna lose a war because ChatGPT has this guy mobilizing divisions that don't exist and tasking real troops with holding mountain passes and ports an LLM hallucinated

Seeing guys like a high ranking military general or executives using ChatGPT feels like an admission of nobody wanting to do their jobs even at the highest levels. What if we all just quit dude

* "I," Percy began, "shall never, EVER, understand, Mavis, why you leave your stone at the station. Why not use the goods depot, the goods SHED, or the OTHER goods shed, or-"
* "Or YOUR shed!" added Mavis, with her biggest smile.

* "Dickhead," puffed Percy, in front of a poor child.

This just goes to show that once fascism has completed its function of reasserting the colonial white supremacist norms of our society and trying to build an ethnostate, the liberalism that will come after will only work to serve our techno-capitalist future. Let me put on my Weyland-Yutani outfit.
CA governor Gavin Newsom vetoed both of the major AI bills on his desk that Silicon Valley meaningfully opposed—one making it illegal for bosses to use AI to fire workers with no oversight, one requiring chatbot sellers to ensure their products do not harm children before marketing to them.
Silicon Valley's capture of our political institutions is all but complete
The tech lobby kills off two key California AI bills, and why it matters. Plus: How Sam Altman played Hollywood with Sora 2, organized mass social media deletions, and more.

To the extent anyone cares, the legality of tapping into tariff money is identical to the legality of tapping into federal income tax money, because they are both taxes that accrue to the treasury. Appropriations are still needed to spend it
Leavitt: "The president tapped into tariff revenue to keep WIC money going out the door. He found a creative solution to keep the troops paid. And rather than congratulate him for doing that, this unprecedented action to get our troops paid, Dems want to sue him for it. They're saying it's illegal."

Please keep going, bro. Take breaks if you need them. Take care of yourself. Shut things down for a bit. Surround yourself with your favourite things. Just keep going. I get it's easier said than done. I've been through this. It's crushing sometimes. Please don't give up. Don't let anyone else win.

Media is awesome because it can show an organization trying to get rid a guy who is underwater with state Democrats by 50 points, undermines any Democratic policy, and is just completely off-putting to anyone who has to spend five minutes around him; and they phrase it as “seeding discord”
SCOOP: Top Democrats in Pennsylvania are maneuvering to run against Sen. John Fetterman in a 2028 primary, threatening to tear the party apart in the biggest battleground state in the nation.
Scoop: Dems plot Fetterman ouster
He's still popular with Pennsylvania voters, even as Democrats turn on him.

A similar thing happened to me about 25 years ago, when I was a preteen. It was a nightmare.

Now, thanks to AI, so many young girls all over the world will have to live that same nightmare.
it's 30 years later and this still happens.

As a former DoD public affairs official for 20 years, this has me disgusted, scared, and angry. Politicizing the military is wrong, wrong, wrong.

This goes against EVERYTHING we are taught at Defense Information School and I am seriously concerned about the state of our military.

That’s $5 billion more than the entire annual USAID budget. All to one country. To rescue one friend of the president’s.
Trump found another $20 BILLION to give to Argentina, totaling their bailout to $40 BILLION.

Yet we can’t afford to prevent millions of Americans from losing their healthcare.

Shame.
