This is what Labour are getting wrong. Tying themselves to neoliberal economics drives investment to non functional production such as carbon capture and hydrogen investments, that climate scientists know don't and can't work. We have to stop burning things - invest in solar, wind, and insulation.

This is correct, in part - as the grim, military historian in me feels the need to note - it is psychologically much harder to get soldiers to open fire on people they view as 'respectable.'

And I dread, with grim increasingly certainty, that we are headed to a point where that matters.

It seems pretty clear to me now: Keir Starmer would rather lose to Reform than to the Labour left, which is his real enemy. Any policy that might recover lost ground with voters has to be struck down, as it looks like a concession to the Labour left. And he and his team cannot contemplate that.
