The director of student media at Indiana University was fired amidst a dispute between university leadership and editors at the Indiana Daily Student over what content gets printed in the student newspaper.

As director of student media, Jim Rodenbush did not directly oversee or have any say over the content published in the IDS, per a charter between the IDS and the university. But he told IndyStar his firing follows a series of meetings with IU Media School leadership in which it grew increasingly apparent they were expecting him to officially prohibit students from publishing news.

Like crabs who spotted one of their own gaining too much elevation, Porter’s opponents in the gubernatorial race rushed to pull her back down into their muck. California State Controller Betty Yee wrote on her X account that “Katie Porter is a weak, self-destructive candidate unfit to lead California. The stakes are simply too high for her to stay in this race. It’s time for her to drop out of this race.” (A statement to which most Californians can only reply: “Who is Betty Yee?”) But, honestly? They’re all jerks. As a Sacramento-based journalist, I can tell you firsthand that Porter getting snippy with a reporter isn’t anything new. If that was a fireable offense, half of the state legislature would be out of a job.

I don't think this was the message at all. I think the message was life is complicated and you're constantly making imperfect choices because life doesn't have perfect choices but you can always try to do better. The show isn't about the afterlife as much as it's about people.

Being able to blanket set your notifications to not see people who don't follow you is way easier than turning off replies on individual posts. I think that there are lots of usability features twitter had that bluesky doesn't that make being a big account annoying.

The reason people liked being verified on Twitter is that you could easily switch your notifications only to other verified accounts and you simply didn't have to see the volume of replies/comments you do here. Plus Twitter will let you only see things from people who follow you, not drivebys
