He/Him. UX designer, dog petter, Blue Jays appreciator. I care about the climate and democracy, and tend to boost info about both. Fan of hilarity.

I seldom missed a game since 2012 and, after that send, I tried and failed to remember the name of the previous third base coach. Fugue state.
"Joey JoJo!" is one of my all-time favourite Simpsons gags.
I'm loving this footage from the umpire's POV, though.

Hey, what was happening in Germany in the 1930s? I forget.

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

Europe always gets me so "things could be better" urbanism-pilled.

Lille (population 238,000)
2 metro lines
60 metro stations
24 intercity trains per day to Paris

Toronto (population 2.8 million)
2.5 metro lines
70 metro stations
7 intercity trains per day to Ottawa

In a new paper we show how misinformation derails support for public action on climate change by casting doubt on the scientific consensus (which undermines public opinion).

Disinformers attack expert consensus because they know it works.

Great stuff. I always look forward to your newsletter, D.M.
Also, it would be nice if the Education Minister stopped referring to education as "the product."

I get that sometimes the garbage can't pile up forever or ERs need nurses, and some strikes need intervention. Air Canada's a private company with 44% market share & stock mostly held by foreign investors.

Air Canada's *not an essential service* and the Canadian government has no right to intervene

Fuck that! Not loving this ugly precedent of the Liberal government injecting themselves into labour issues to side with corporations.

Flight attendants are striking for extremely reasonable demands. Did you know they don't get paid UNTIL takeoff time? All the boarding and prep they do for FREE.
I had the same thought. Seems like an extra starter would be prudent, but right now they'd need to go to a 6-man rotation.

A Quebec fisherman who was fishing 15 kilometers north of the US border was essentially kidnapped by US Border Patrol, who capsized his boat and dragged him to an American prison cell.

In any normal time this'd be quite the international incident, y'know?

@wilnerness.bsky.social I know headlines aren't your responsibility, but maybe you know who can fix this?

The only thing to understand about the pronoun thing is that just because something is outside of your lived experience doesn’t mean it’s not real or the person telling you is mistaken or you are being inconvenienced
im always taken aback by just how much cis people will humiliate themselves to be dicks to trans people. like sorry, youre confused about pronouns? how did you make it thru 6th grade english you slimy dipshit? why are you going on podcasts to advertise youre too stupid to understand simple concepts?

With all the social media discourse about how every newspaper is untrustworthy, I find that young people aren’t learning this habit of looking through a daily central source for the top stories

When we don’t have any sense of a shared news reality, we are easier to divide

Look people, no matter how much we destroy the Earth by polluting it with CO₂, microplastics, PFAS, etc. everywhere, and even if AMOC shuts down and both the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets melt, the Earth will still be infinitely more habitable than Mars. Mars is a shithole and we're not going.

This is a vital message: one of the larger reasons BlueSky is refreshingly free of alt-right shitlords is because in the early days we made a gentleperson’s agreement to starve these fuckos out and it worked. No likes, no quotes, no engagement. They got bored and left. Please keep the Old Ways.
