Teen Vogue rising after the 2016 election and dying after the 2024 election doesn't even feel like a metaphor as much as a microcosm of what is happening all over places that were once strong areas of resistance.
LFG NYC 💙🧡❤️ ZOHRAN!!!!!

Left part of my heart there in 2002 when I moved, but man, I’ve wanted to move back ever since. I take my son as much as humanly possible. Nowhere has ever felt like home like NYC.

All this to say, I’m with you in spirit NYC.
New York is a-changin'.
Yup Ohtani will win. Honestly, I’m just excited for Soto that his season is getting the appropriate recognition

No more Black or trans staffers. No politics of any kind. The cowardice of mainstream media isn't just insulting, it's *boring.* Now TV is just like any other beauty rag. Why not just kill it quickly? Why the slow-motion pretense?
thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.

now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

Blake Snell is this fascinating combination of someone who is very good at his job, bores the shit out of me to actually watch pitch, but entertains the fuck out of me off field.
Blake Snell, screaming "this is lit as f***!" on the Dodgers' parade bus and doing the 6-7 gesture. He's having a good time today.
Absolutely disgraceful. Teen Vogue / @leximcmenamin.com were doing some of the most important political journalism.
So, all the stories about politics are going to be replaced with pieces about... career development?

Conde Nast and Vogue (which Teen Vogue is being pulled into) are truly underestimating how much young people are impacted by and care about politics.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.
AHHHHHHH NO!!! I’m so sorry, i religiously read your pieces- looking forward to where you land next. Teen Vogue’s loss - Onward & Upward.

And again, a pattern of putting out statements accusing people of serious Federal crimes and then releasing them hours or days or weeks later with no charges. And no retraction.
NEWS: Federal agents crashed with woman’s car, pointed guns at her, dragged her out by legs, tossed her in a minivan, held her and (eventually) let her go without charges. This as Chicagoans say the immigration blitz is out of control. (DHS blames her.)

The arrest of Dayanne Figueroa highlights growing concerns about the use of force against U.S. citizens and due process. She was released after a few hours without charges.

NEW: 12 Mississippi polling places have moved and 4 have been closed ahead of the Nov. 4 legislative special elections, an MFP investigation finds.

Counties also have incorrect addresses in the state system for 11 polling places, risking sending some voters to the wrong location.

After gleefully and illegally plowing over every statute and regulation they don't like—such as by destroying USAID, refusing to enforce CFPB regs, and withholding SNAP funding—the Trump admin has decided 88 FR 8255 is ironclad law that must be ruthlessly enforced to ensure more people go hungry.
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

What if, and stay with me, the barbaric and imperious way the United States responded to 9/11 is an enormous part of how we got here
SecDef announcing another illegal strike in the Caribbean against “narco-terrorists.”

Says the Pentagon will treat these alleged drug smugglers “EXACTLY how we treated Al-Qaeda.”

I can think of a few relevant differences between the two, eg 9/11, etc.

Here in Atlanta yesterday, more than 2,000 people waited in their cars—one woman for 14 hours—for a box of food. The giveaway ended early; there wasn't enough to go around.

Multiply this scene by countless others across the country, and you get a sense of how crushing the desperation is right now.
