Certainly, the association here isn't new. Homeschooling and homesteading go hand in hand with skepticism of public schools and public health.

But my point is that algorithms can push moms down that path by sowing seeds of distrust, then feeding up content to fertilize what they've sown. 5/

I started by tracking social media ads for parenting apps--screen-shotting ads on platforms like Facebook.

These ads contain a number of interesting messages, but a common one is: "You need this app because your kid isn't getting enough support in school." 2/
Ad that for an app that promises to "teach what schools skip" Ad that promises to "unlock your child's reading potential in 90 days" Ad that promises to "help kids with dyscalculia improve math skills by 20% in 6 weeks"

We need to talk about how social media algorithms push moms down a slippery slope of distrust.

From "Are my kids getting enough support in school?" To "Maybe I should homeschool." To "Maybe modern medicine is bad."

I've seen this first-hand in research I'm doing on parenting apps. 1/🧵

“Footage, obtained by the outlet, captured the musician face-down in the mud, with her instrument about two feet to her left, struggling as what appears to be a federal agent straddled her backside. A police officer stood next to the pair.”
The Feds then jailed her across state lines. For music.

To be more specific, media and politicians aren't aware of the scale of continuing reductions

The public mostly don't know it fell at all. Both boats + political/broadcast skew to mainly covering boats contributes significantly to net migration falling by half to two-thirds without being noticed

The serious point here is that Britain is in desperate need of migrants, and any attempt to actively dissuade them from coming directly harms both society and the economy.
