@nlgchicago.bsky.social is trying to raise $10k to fund ongoing legal support for protesters. They've had to cover long shifts at Broadview, and their volunteers have been repeatedly assaulted by police in the process. More info with ways to donate here: instagram.com/p/DP36ITJja-W/

the budget address i'm interested in hearing today is the one where chicago police department doesn't exist anymore

since that's not the budget address that will be given, i will busy myself with anything else, please enjoy this picture from october 16, 2019, one of our signs from the picket line
a protest sign for the chicago teachers union strike in 2019

why is there always money for police but not for education
Body cameras are a waste of time (see every other police force with them), but it's disingenuous (obviously) for DHS to argue they don't have film -- their PR guys are all over the streets with them.
Ellis says she doesn't expect agents to turn on a body cam "that they don't have," but adds this is more reason to have immigration brass like Hott in court.

She wants info on how many agents have been given body cameras, what agencies have them, etc.

Mike Johnson called us back from July 4 recess on 7/3 so he could gut Americans’ healthcare in the Big Ugly bill. Since then, he has only had the House in session for 19 of the subsequent 104 days. That’s how we ended up here.

I see protest discourse is hitting the feed again ahead of No Kings—idk man, go, don’t go,

…but if you do go make sure to link up with an org that’ll help you get into longterm organizing and if you don’t go, make sure to link up with an org that’ll help you get into longterm organizing

More efficient, but I also think the visibility was the point at first. Now it’s just supposed to be normal to have all these feds around and soldiers, and for people to just very quietly disappear.
The roads are so wide and there's nobody using them, and the bus system seems useless for local transportation.
My companies parking benefits are too high because coworkers who live in Lincoln Park and Fulton Market drive in.
I won't be flying an American flag, I'll be flying this Illinois flag by @harebrained.bsky.social to show my loyalties and my seriousness.
What looks like the Illinois state flag at first glance waving in the wind, but at second glance, the standard bald eagle is replaced with Eagle Man, and the ribbon says "I got something for you! "
I'm pro protests in general, but it's definitely worth thinking about what affects you want to see achieved from it. Sometimes standing with a bunch of like minded folks and shouting can be enough -- I know it boosts my morale.
Maybe I don't understand the terminology, but all along the Chicago river are former multistory warehouses? My condo was a warehouse when it was originally built?
What a pleasure to see someone act to prevent the appearance of impropriety in doing their job in the federal government.
Bottom line: Perry says that clerk will no longer be working on this case, going forward.

Neither side made a motion based on this disclosure, but I didn't hear anyone rule it out, either.

Either way, hearing adjourned.
This is nicer than some Wisconsin bike lanes I've used, which are sometimes just a sign pointing to a foot of shoulder ending in gravel.
Also, if you watch any documentaries about the actual Chicago Nazis, they were weirdo freaks, basically equivalent of nick Fuentes fans. Their leader, Frank Collin, was eventually convicted of child molestation.
What the heck is he doing throwing gas without his mask on?
The museum of illusions is too expensive, but kinda fun once you're inside.

all the transit advocates cheering on the ever expanding surveillance state … this ain’t it y’all
Starting October 15, six CTA buses will operate with Automated Bus Lane Enforcement systems as part of the City of Chicago’s Smart Streets pilot.
Automated bus lane, bus stop, and bike lane enforcement starts Wednesday, October 15th Keeping bus stops clear is essential to ensuring that transit is accessible to everyone especially people with disabilities. Bus lanes and bus stops are for buses. Bike lanes are for bikes.
Keeping them clear is essential to ensuring everyone in Chicago gets where they need to go, safely and on time. That's why we're launching automated bus lane, bus stop, and bike lane enforcement to improve rider safety and transit efficiency.
We're 6 episodes of 8 in to Wayward at this point and it's very good.
