For all the olde librarians: ChatGPT should be like Dialog, where you have to pay per search. The charge should be equivalent to the environmental damage of the query. 📚

I'm like a sleeping princess tucked away deep inside a castle on the top of a mountain, surrounded by brambles and patrolled by a fire-breathing dragon except I'm just trying to limit my exposure to mainstream media.

Look right into your fire and ask it how it started and it will never tell you. Not that it doesn't know, it just doesn't believe it I believe I also believe life originated from rubbing two beliefs together, there that's two and this is a single-celled campfire

But that 120 year legacy changed on October 1st, when US customs announced a phase-out of Canadian access to the library.

Canadians with existing cards could still enter via an emergency exit until October 1st, but now must go through border control to enter their library.

Are we the baddies, etc.
Locals feel a loss as the U.S. limits Canadian access to cross-border library
Canadians will no longer be allowed to freely use the American entrance to the cultural building that sits on both sides of the U.S.-Canada border.

There's a little library that straddles the US-Canadian border:
the "Haskell Free Library and Opera House".

Since 1904, it's been free to use for people in Stanstead, Quebec & Derby Line, Vermont, with just a black tape line to indicate the international border.
