I REALLY need White folks who are sincere on wanting to be anti-racist to think about why it offends to be asked to read scholarly examinations by civil rights theorists, often lauded people of color, to help understand the problem. And also how White Supremacy teaches them it's unnecessary.

When I or other bipoc talk about how White people need to do the reading before involving themselves in talks on racism, it's often treated by White people as a dunk. They see it as an attack on their intelligence and insist they know enough for the conversation at hand.

Once again people not getting what Horseshoe Theory is, or what "Hard Left" is. The polar opposite of fascism isn't fascism. If politics is on a binary scale, it's on vs off. You can't flip a light switch up hard enough for it to turn the light back off again.

I used to be pretty dismissive of horseshoe theory but this same week I have people on the hard right and shockingly also on the hard left arguing if THEIR political ally says "screw the elites" the right way they can have a little Nazism as a treat.

We can see how often people translated しょうがない (shō ga nai) as "it can't be helped" during this contest - a surprisingly low 6%!
