Yep - not only used to be, still is!

I didn't have to vote at the last election because my local councillor and the Mayor (of an LGA the same pop size as Tasmania!) stood unopposed.

Some smaller LGAs have had divisions that don't have local reps for a decade a pop.

I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?
