I mean it's pretty damn obvious - I don't understand why so many people can't seem to figure it out...

The truth is that the political right and socially conservative are running scared at the thought of a more equal and just society...

Many on the right will try and belittle and undermine what’s happening.

But here’s the truth. Tens of thousands are joining Greens. Polls are at record highs. People are just starting to feel hope again.

The @greenparty.org.uk and @zackpolanski.bsky.social are giving me hope in UK politics again.
I don’t think the Spectator has ever given me any hope.

Out today, the latest Tyrant Philosophers piece - book 3.5 in the series is a novella length offering about the life of Angilly, who we met in Days of Shattered Faith. You don’t need to have read that (or any of them) to read this.

Lives of Bitter Rain by @aptshadow.bsky.social is out today!

A novella in the Tyrant Philosophers series, this book takes a deep dive into the character of Angilly and her past, and further explores the empire's reach, and the costs of living inside it...

So many drivers here in the UK don’t know how to drive over the charcoal bricket style speed bumps: you can straddle over them but I see so many people do acrobatic driving to avoid them…and end up hitting them hard! …or even the curb!

When people ask me what I think about using AI in writing I’m going to send them this screenshot
A screenshot of a post that reads David Simon, creator of *The Wire*, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro, NPR

And then a screenshot of a conversation that goes like this:

SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

You don’t need a “brand”. You’re not a product.

The number of ppl who told me I needed a "brand" when I was finishing up my PhD and during my postdoc... 💀

Feels like in the 2000-2010s there was this sea change in academia where young scholars were supposed to brand themselves in this or that way to be competitive on the market, but 3 market collapses later it feels like the pivot simply led to atomized individualistic approaches to illegible fields

We watched the recent film adaptation of Tomb Raider and it occurred to me that for a film with a plot that revolves around Japanese history/mythology, there’s not a single Japanese actor or location! Strange creative decision there…I’m surprised no one involved picked up on this…

Glad to see Nigel Farage has finally remembered Nathan Gill, former leader of Reform in Wales - found guilty of taking bribes from Russia.

Maybe he'll now remember how much he took from Putin's propaganda broadcaster Russia Today for all his TV appearances when he was a MEP?

As a proud lefty, and someone who had signed up to Your Party on day 1, I joined the Greens yesterday. In particular for their clear position on fairness for both people and the planet and their unequivocal support for trans rights. This ill-considered post further proves it was the right decision.

Ever since I finished Question Time, Reform have massively been on the attack.

Including a rant from Richard Tice entirely designed to distract from Reform and Russia.

Everyone should know about Nathan Gill, the bribes from Russia and the link to Reform.

Greens growing. Reform ratttled.

PS - I changed my name back to my family's original Jewish name because I'm proud of being Jewish. If Tice think that makes me a weirdo, I think that makes him an antisemite.

Tice "green party leader Zack Polanski is a weirdo. Changed his name, claimed hypnosis could increase women's breast size, thinks me should compete in women's sport, thinks women can have a penis. Other than that he's fine. Vote Green. Get weirdo."

Tice has connections to Russian oligarchs as well as Nathan Gill who spread pro-Russian propaganda in the UK.

What a weirdo.
