Arguing that abandoning all talks risks the Canadian economy misses the point: the continental economy is *already gone*. And we're going to pay for it one way or another. Certainty can come only at the cost of subservience. And actual resistance and resilience can't be had w/ tax cuts & austerity.

The obvious corollary to all of this is that it is utterly pointless for Canada to negotiate *anything* with Trump. This includes the USMCA.
The sooner Mark Carney acknowledges this, the sooner Canada can get to the business of addressing the US threat in a realistic manner.

If anything like the rule of law were in force, Trump couldn't arbitrarily increase a tariff because he is annoyed.

In important and increasing ways, the rule of law in the US no longer exists.
