it's kinda weird that all the software i am expected to use for work are all written by distributed teams, go, python, postgres, linux, chrome, k8s etc

and despite being told "the best teams work in an office together" i don't know of any software i use that's actually written that way

yuuuuup. although sometimes nowdays scrape vendors keep the core of the business in India or Russia because of the data laws more so than human scrapers, and then just “resell” the data back to their western front to keep things “legal”

after my first human audit pass failed, it turned out it was 20 people in hyderabad being directed by an unpaid intern who played an entirely different game they had in their office

total refund & we nearly sued them for that horseshit. so many fraud companies

I distinctly remember a time in 2018 where I paid a text analysis vendor who swore up & down their LLM was capable of somehow auto auditing corpuses for gaming-specific sentiment over six figures…

the main thing I learned when they made me manage a data entry team in Chennai a decade ago: a data team in Chennai (or Cebu) are being paid a single entry level US wage across a dozen people to do the work 5 or 6 departments didn’t want to do. most of what they did was clean up “automation.”
