Wow! Great to see this kind of transit priority on what has long been a very congested part of Bathurst Street!
The solutions to speed up transit are well known and aren’t that complicated!

Jan 10, 1964: an article in the Globe and Mail anticipates the demolition of Toronto Union Station: ”that grimy looking pile of stone with the massive pillars standing like sentinels at its main entrance is slated to go the way of all structures that have outlived their usefulness.” 1/3

A fun afternoon watching the Ontario curling championships. And since it’s in Elmira, of course the mascots are pancakes and maple syrup!
Team Mooibroek won the 1-2 game today and booked their ticket to the finals. Good luck tomorrow guys!

Stephen Colbert on the ICE murder of Renee Nicole Good: “The message from this administration is clear. Only they determine the truth. And when their forces come to your city: obey or die. And if you die, you clearly didn’t obey. This should be an alarm bell for the entire country.”

I love how you can associate cities with their transit door chimes. Here’s Montreal, another classic sound

I recently spoke with @davidgordonkoch.bsky.social from @nbmediacoop.bsky.social about my documentary film in advance of the New Brunswick premiere in Moncton! Here's a link to our conversation.
The screening is Sunday 11 Jan 1pm at Moncton Public Library. Register: forms.office.com/pages/respon...

In an op-ed today, @seanyyz.bsky.social argues that the best way to improve transit in Toronto is to focus on affordable, quick, and effective solutions spacing.ca/toronto/2026...
OP-ED: Toronto transit needs to build on what we have, not fall for old tropes - Spacing Toronto
Transit planning is a long-term endeavour, not a one-time project with a single solution. In a municipal election year, we need to demand more from leaders and those charged with planning and running ...

Toronto is generally allergic to data when it comes to traffic planning, but the NYC congestion pricing experiment has basically been a slam dunk: www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

When people get even a hint of positivity like this… it is impossible to stop them wanting more.

Seems like this is an error in the schedule and this train (and the others left off the official PDF timetables) will be running.

Let’s hope Metrolinx has ‘fixing schedule errors’ on their New Year’s resolution list.
Unfortunately in the new 3 January 2026 timetable, this has been cancelled. The 22:34 Kitchener Line train from Union Station will once again only run as far as Guelph.
A huge disappointment that hopefully gets corrected in future timetable changed, especially when baseball season starts again.
Let’s GO (train) Blue Jays!
Good news for Kitchener-Waterloo residents who like watching big league sports in Toronto:
The 22:34 Kitchener Line train that used to end (frustratingly) in Guelph, will be extended to Kitchener from 22 November. Attending weekday ballgames will be easier next season!

I was looking at the official Metrolinx pdf of the new schedule. Hopefully this is an error on their part.

A good time to revisit these photos!
