Tiny criminal, photographed this morning.

She jumped in the plant and promptly got digging zoomies.

A very small kitten, tabby and white, shouting while I hold her up in the air with one hand. If you look closely you can see that both she, and my hand, are covered in dirt. The plant in question is blurry in the background.

220 years ago, on the 21st of October 1805, a British fleet let by Lord Nelson defeated a combined French and Spanish fleet at the Battle of Trafalgar. The victory confirmed the start of an era of British naval supremacy. Nelson himself was shot and died before the battle ended. #otd #history 🗃️

This map showing the all-important wind direction, which was NNW (or NW). Both fleets were sailing downwind, with the wind on different tacks. They were thus converging on the centre of the combined fleet, at the vertex of the angle of convergence. Seeing the battle about to begin, the French-Spanish wore ship and began to close-haul in the reverse direction. Villeneuve thought to bring the whole van crashing down on Nelson in the centre, but he lost headway against the wind and could not close. Meanwhile his former rear, now his van, appeared to Nelson to be escaping to Cadiz. He brought the weather column into the wind to pursue and caught them. The business in the centre was finished by Collingwood, lee column commander, who took on the new enemy rear piecemeal as it came slowly into range.

As the glass shatters the liquid feline billows into a colorful cloud laughing maniacally. The chaotic queer cat then makes their escape.

70 years ago, on the 20th of October 1955, the final volume of the Lord Of the Rings was published. It was titled ‘The Return of the King’ by publisher Rayner Unwin. Author J.R.R. Tolkien felt the title revealed too much of the story and preferred the title ‘The War of the Ring’. #otd #history 🗃️

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
