Intro thread time! Hi, I’m Ann, your friendly neighborhood introvert! I’m 30+ years old, aro/ace, from the US East Coast. If you’re a bigoted asshole (TERF, etc), there’s the door. Otherwise, welcome to my weirdness! (1/3)

There are laws about how to interdict suspected criminals on the high seas.

There are laws about how to renovate federal buildings.

There are laws about how not to monetize the presidency.

There are laws. We should enforce them. And not normalize the flagrant violation of them in the newspapers.

She jumped in the plant and promptly got digging zoomies.

look on the bright side, their mad dash to get this stupid ballroom built by skipping all of the safety and engineering considerations provides us with the possibility of the funniest end to this admin that could ever happen

I love this set in my collection showing that magic moment when a cat sees you and decides to come visit. ✨

220 years ago, on the 21st of October 1805, a British fleet let by Lord Nelson defeated a combined French and Spanish fleet at the Battle of Trafalgar. The victory confirmed the start of an era of British naval supremacy. Nelson himself was shot and died before the battle ended. #otd #history 🗃️

I can't really explain fully why this is the thing of all things that got my jaw on the floor but I guess it's such a literal symbol and also such a jaw dropping amount of money while small businesses are struggling to survive the tariffs

Such a visible "go fuck yourself"
Scoop: Trump has started demolishing the White House's East Wing facade to build his ballroom. The president had claimed construction of the $250 million building wouldn’t ‘interfere’ with the existing White House structure. /W @ddiamond.bsky.social wapo.st/4hqBNiU

netflix put video stores out of business by having a massively bigger selection by mail, and now the streaming version of netflix has a smaller selection than a typical video store had
One thing you could do at a video store in the '90s and '00s was rent movies from the '80s through the '00s as opposed to having them be unfindable because nobody bothered
Yeah I'm so spoiled rotten I wanted to watch The Elephant Man oops

With the AWS outage, now‘s as good a time as any to post this old strip.
Hive mind question! I broke the handle off a mug yesterday in such a way that it would be easily re-attachable with the right adhesive. What should I use?

70 years ago, on the 20th of October 1955, the final volume of the Lord Of the Rings was published. It was titled ‘The Return of the King’ by publisher Rayner Unwin. Author J.R.R. Tolkien felt the title revealed too much of the story and preferred the title ‘The War of the Ring’. #otd #history 🗃️

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

"Mr. President sir the idea is you're constantly flying around in a big jet filled with your own shit in it. Like human shit. Anyways you're wearing a little crown in your little shitmobile and you're dumping the shit out. I think people will like it."
and another thing: he’s not mad. please don’t put it in the newspaper that he got mad.
