using a very broad definition of beautiful here. i don't mean pretty, or pleasing, or not-ugly. i mean beautiful in the way pain, hurt, survival, death, existentialism, doubt, the inherent absurd contradictions of humanity can be beautiful.

but also i mean pretty. that works too.
we are increasingly surrounded by agendas needing to convince us that reality doesn't matter, that our senses & experience & memory & history don't matter. that how we measure & feel & what we love don't matter.

making refutes that. art proves that a lie. make something beautiful. something real.
are there... ANY women ice agents? in the field? don't get me twisted, maga loves and needs its fascist white women I'm not suggesting women are ~too pure~ or whatever the fuck, they absolutely can be plenty racist enough to quality, but. are any ice agents?? because i have not seen a one.
thank you for this thread, as always!
hope so! the rally is 2-4 so you should be able to make it!

If the big downtown rallies seem intimidating, or if you can't travel to one, try one of the smaller rallies. Most people will only see the big rallies if media covers them, but many will see local rallies in person.
do you have a window you can stick the sign in? car or home or work? (sucks you have to work!)

This is a great thread explaining why mass rallies, like #NoKings, are critically important. Not sufficient on their own, but key to organizing an effective resistance to authoritarianism.

Also: SUPER FUN!
I frequently say you don't need to protest. You don't! There are a thousand other ways to push back on fascism if protesting doesn't feel comfortable or safe for you!

But if you CAN go, this 10/18 #NoKings thing is really a key protest to participate in. Be part of it, friends.
NO KINGS, y'all! October 18! Find a rally near you and GO!

I'll be at a fiber festival this weekend, but I don't have a class saturday afternoon so i looked, and y'know what? that wee semi rural town has an event planned! WEE TOWN IN OREGON. i promise there's something near you!

Graphic with a cartoon bald eagle carrying an upside-down crown over a banner reading "NO KINGS." Now in glorious color with a bit of 35mm film clouds at sunset as the background. NO KINGS logo and nokings.org URL at bottom right.
i have drafted 7 of 8 pages, gotten 3 out of 4 fold lines for sure in the right places, and started working on the builds/illustrations (and prodded @laurakqb.bsky.social into helping me with them). i do not actually need to finish this zine tonight. right?
i'm working on a zine that combines bits of this and your how to report ice one (i've distributed both!), but tailored to a particular community i'm trying to encourage to get active; with your permission and with credit on the zine, i'd like to use some of your words from both. is that okay?

do you wear condoms or test before sex with strangers? do you wear condoms or test again if they've shared fluid with someone else since last time?

is it because of ~~fear~~? or maybe because that's sort of the baseline for not spreading a disabling virus (that's still potentially lethal for some)?
"oh no there are PROSTITUTES showing their BUTTS where my CHILDREN can SEE they should be ARRESTED!!!" — people in my neighborhood.

orrrrrrr:

"people wear different things. we can have different standards of clothing than other people, and that's okay."

PRESCHOOL. LEVEL. SHIT.
PARENT BETTER.

I understand that there are right ways and wrong ways to have the age conversation about Dem leadership and I don’t know how I feel about specific solutions like age and term limits. I do know THIS PART HERE is a problem bigger than any one individual 78-year-old and it’s making us all furious
I think my biggest betrayal is that it feels like they have not nurtured upcoming generations. we've watched them cut the knees out from people who get the base excited instead of mentoring them, it's aggravating as fuck.

If I wear an oven mitt, am I afraid of the oven?
covid isn't hiv. but it does fuck up our immune systems. it does barely show up in some people and lay out others rapidly. it is a dangerous virus that is, still, killing people. like in the 80s/90s, we don't fully understand it.

but we know how to reduce the spread. wear protection.
we didn't reduce AIDS stigma by pretending "it's not that bad". we reduced stigma by acknowledging just how bad it was, being very explicit about how it spread, encouraging *everyone* to take steps to stop the spread — and by fighting like HELL against those who wanted to ignore it.

It’s really disheartening to see people who admit this regime is doing eugenics fail to understand the ways in which chronically ill, disabled, and immunocompromised people are just absolutely fucked by Long Covid

Stop trying to oppress me by gently urging me to be considerate of those around me.

I’d rather die than feel beholden to a rule that prevents me from deep-throating the spigot of a public water fountain or performatively sneezing directly in the faces of service industry workers.
don't mind me I'm just making a mini zine now with more lego

being loved means being known and being known means knowing me saying "I'm seriously going to throw up" means I'm not going to throw up i just feel like I'm going to throw up and when I'm actually going to throw up i don't say I'm seriously going to throw up i just say "bucket!" #VestibularMigraine

Fascists do not want regular folk to know how many of their neighbors and coworkers and friends and family oppose fascism. That's why they demonize public gatherings that show just that.

Remember: you can go to a protest without signing up. Make a plan, bring water, show up.
I was just telling my husband that an effect I got from the protests during his first term was a restorative sense of solidarity, of not being alone in being angry at the injustice.

Peaceful protest is VERY GOOD at restoring strength to folks & building bonds you need for later.
