I'll say it: I think its rly annoying and frankly amateurish that writers are constantly told their villains must be understandable or have sympathetic motivation to be interesting or realistic when all our big villains irl are in fact rich, stupid, selfish, trickster dillweeds and always have been

It's 12:00 am and Steam just notified me that my father-in-law started playing Persona 4. What sort of Midnight Channel nonsense is this?

I was just thinking back on these recently. What a beautiful time.

Digimon Beatbreak Episode 2 Review: In this episode, Tomoro alternates between being grumpy over the loss of his brother and grumpy that it’s been so well planned for.

If I show up every week, y'all get spoiled and my schedule can't handle that.

I've got the R.O.D. ones, *actually use* a Haibane Renmei board... and now I've got to dig through my School Rumble cases because I don't remember those.

Another round of old anime pencil boards. Remember these?

If we're talking "favorite" rather than what we consider "best," I had Last Jedi second after A New Hope the second I watched it. It was the first time I felt a SW movie trying to say something interesting to me and not just the next installment of Skywalker melodrama.

Can confirm I'll be on the pod tomorrow! And I'm also continuing my episode review series over on Tumblr! My review of the first episode of Digimon Beatbreak is here: firstagent.tumblr.com/post/7966108...

My kid watched this earlier in the year and seemed to really enjoy it. Plus Alex Brightman's in it, which will never steer you wrong.

Not going to get Digimon Story Time Stranger right away (don't trust it on my current hardware), but I did play the demo last night. Plays good, looks great, and it's everything I expect in a Digimon game, but good lord that's the most disorienting way to throw you into the story and the mechanics.

I need to make dinner but I also need to see the Cubs close this game out. A little starvation is worth it if they can actually win this series, right?

🚨👀 Interesting choice from the #NFL to pick #BadBunny as Super Bowl halftime performer.

He has been pretty critical of the Trump regime’s immigration policies. The far right will loser their minds over this www.usatoday.com/story/entert...
Bad Bunny will be Super Bowl LX half time show performer

My nine year old is predicting the Super Bowl halftime act will either be Sabrina Carpenter or Jason from the Friday the 13th movies. Just registering the guess in case one of those two ends up being right. #NFL

Today's act of resistance: getting a COVID booster without a prescription. Pretty sure this puts me on a list somewhere.

Luckily, Sinclair has a helpful database of all their stations, so you can see if they're operating in your area and respond accordingly.

Officially an old nerd dad now. Took my kid to a convention cosplay contest and he recognized and got excited for a character I'd never heard of. I'm expecting my AARP card and complimentary Gunpla kit to arrive soon.

I watched the Nintendo Direct live and still mistook this for a Hard Drive parody.

Virtual Boy for Nintendo Switch 2/Nintendo Switch pricing

Virtual Boy $99.99 bit.ly/4n1oGGR
Virtual Boy Cardboard Model $24.99 bit.ly/46GhYPF

Paid Nintendo Switch Online membership required to purchase

That segment could have been made by Hard Drive and it would look exactly the same.

We all want to live in a country where this doesn't happen, but let's take a second to recognize how many lives this school saved with good planning and preparation, without catering to dangerous demands like SROs or arming teachers. These are things schools can and are doing.
arpulver.bsky.social
Two students being hit is too many of course, but it sounds like this school was prepared AF. The article says 900 kids either ran or hid in classrooms. They knew what to do and surely teachers were helping them. The shooter was so frustrated at the lack of targets he took it out on the property.
arpulver.bsky.social
Anyway, two things stand out: one is the police response was *instant.* On site two minutes after the call, shooter down in five. That not only requires police to be on the ball, but also good advance preparation with the school to have plans to put into motion to deal with this situation.
arpulver.bsky.social
Let's get one thing clear: when someone is so far gone they show up somewhere with a gun intending to shoot people, someone's getting shot. Any officer presence/ SRO won't stop anyone committed to doing this. You wanna prevent this, don't let them get this far gone or don't give them gun access.
arpulver.bsky.social
Spending as little bandwidth as I can on the *other* shooting, but reading about this one brings up interesting points that nobody's going to talk about. Not about the "extreme network;" everyone can deal with that when it's confirmed it's what everyone expects. But this school saved lives...
