If millions of people were forced to try and leave the UK due to a climate change disaster I imagine the rhetoric around migrants would change overnight to 'How can the leaders of countries not offer safe refuge to these brave Brits who are crossing the Channel for a better life?'. #r4today

The presenters of #r4today are totally clued-up about films, books and stage shows plus all the right-wing talking points that their right-wing friends in the overwhelmingly right-wing press have read out each day on the show. However when it comes to the science of climate change they are useless.

Editors and presenters of #r4today still don't seem to understand the magnitude of the climate emergency. A token headline or two while ignoring the issue when covering business, sport and entertainment simply won't wash. This is a problem that will get much worse and continue for decades.

#r4today hosts long discussions of inadequate "peace plan" documents, with Jeremy Bowen and the odd guest remarking on that inadequacy for days. Has the BBC ever published the text of any of these documents? I've found various things, but I have no idea whether they're the texts in question.

If we had scientifically literate presenters of #r4today we might get decent coverage of the climate emergency and related issues. However most of the current crop are much more at ease covering political gossip plus promotional stuff for their friends rather than the issue of the age.
