we get it, big tech, you can render shiny glass now. it's very impressive. but can we please have an interface that is clear in the sense of being easy to interpret instead of one that is clear in the sense of being fucking see-through

I have to assume they do this because if the icon for Excel looked like a spreadsheet then LibreOffice could make the icon for Calc look like a spreadsheet and then it would be easier for non-techie people to switch. Microsoft need people to learn and rely on a symbology they own and control

These are all awful, of course, but not necessarily worse than the ones they chose. The only time this century that Office has had a good icon set were the flat ones around 2016. Some of the early 90s ones were OK on Windows but the Mac ones from that time were also completely terrible.

The old "book" style Office icons where the left side is a coloured (perspective-tilted) rectangle with the app's identifying letter, and the right side shows a bit of what the app does

It's like all the "AI artists" writing "masterpiece quality, correct anatomy" in the prompt, with the same energy as homeopaths telling you the body can just cure anything on its own but it needs a special glass of water to remind it to do it, no, if it could, it would do it without being asked

Remember all of the ghouls who denied this was happening and did everything they could to make the problem worse from JK Rowling to Wes Streeting. The NHS who did a stitch up report to hide the growing number of suicides from trans youth on the waitlists. They should never be forgiven.

The shop by me sells "chicken burgers" which are functionally identical to their chicken kyivs except without the garlic sauce inside them. But you're *supposed* to put them in bread buns. So these ones are burgers. I mean the EU are right in that sense, that this is no system at all

Chicken burgers are the goddamn purge, it's not ground meat, maybe it's deep fried, maybe it has breadcrumbs as if there isn't enough bread involved already, none of this is normal burger behaviour, they absolutely shouldn't get a pass here
