No ceasefire is ever a ceasefire when you're dealing with a genocidal occupying state with the support of the world's powers.

Re-upping this thread in light of @ben.gracewood.nz uncovering that there is no record of David Seymour ever being told (as he had claimed) that alcohol warning labels hamper craft brewers ... a non-issue that would require us to break from our international agreements to fix ...

You know the topic of hearing loss is important to me, and I am well aware of the connections between hearing loss and dementia (I'm seeing that with my mom these days) Sharing this little bit of @drjengunter.bsky.social most recent Substack to help other women around my age know about this.

Brain Fog and Hearing
I was speaking at a menopause conference this past weekend, and one of the presentations was on hearing loss.
It's good to remind everyone (or let you know, if you were unaware) that hearing loss can contribute to dementia (I've written about this previously here). Two important points that I took away from the speaker were:
• It's a good idea for everyone to have a baseline audiology or hearing assessment before age 50, or if you are older than that, whenever you can.
• Hearing loss can present as brain fog. (Right? I know! So fascinating).
The speaker used an analogy that compared how foggy everything looks to those of us who need glasses when we don't have them.
The same analogy holds true as we lose our hearing; the world seems fuzzy. In addition, when you are struggling to hear or may be unaware that ou can't hear, you are 10:45

The same analogy holds true as we lose our hearing; the world seems fuzzy. In addition, when you are struggling to hear or may be unaware that you can't hear, you are likely missing vital pieces of information in conversations that could lead you to be confused and/or lead you to erroneously think you have a problem with cognition or memory, when in fact, it's hearing loss.
Think of this as a prompt to get a baseline hearing test if you can (I had one two years ago), and especially if you are struggling with brain fog.

National/ACT Coalition government spends over $100,000 a year on a road cone hotline that increasingly hardly anyone uses - with each call leading to less than one road cone removed.

And they took this funding from real worksafe work

After 5 months of the heralded ‘tipline’, just 204 road cones are confirmed gone
In Whanganui, information from the Government’s own Road Cone Tipline had actually led to more cones being put out than taken away. In Wellington, 110 complaints resulted in just two cones being remov...

Weirdly, it is on the wrong side of the terminal - they would have had to cross over a concrete median strip at a 90-degree angle to crash where they did - makes me wonder who was driving and whether they were really in control.

I’m sick of RW govts trying to separate “the unions” from their members.

“The unions” can’t take strike actions without balloting members. “The unions” aren’t forcing members to strike; they can’t. Members are voting to strike, because of shite offers from this govt.

Remember the old rightwing argument that all we needed to do was put a price on climate emissions and let the market do its thing? Well the necessary step was for the Govt to put a price on emissions. The current far right NZ Govt just announced it will never put a price on emissions.

Methane makes up 48% of NZ's climate pollution. The Govt's grossly irresponsible announcement today that they will never have a price on methane, combined with their policies to increase the dairy herd, means that they have zero intention of meeting NZ Paris obligations.
