You're renting out a movie theater for you and your friends/family for three films. What are you choosing?

Always fun to see what folks most associate character actors from, I'm a lifelong fan of MASH the movie so I associate Auberjonois with that, considerably more than I do the guy that played Mulcahy on TV bsky.app/profile/bren...

I’ll tell you what’s a treat, whenever you watch a movie and you get Odo when he’s not Odo
René Auberjonois in The Patriot René Auberjonois in McCabe and Mrs Miller René Auberjonois in MASH René Auberjonois in Batman Forever, this is probably the best hair

On the one hand, it's always weird when coaches get fired this early because you're still dealing in small sample sizes, but on the other this dude absolutely deserved to get fired and like 3 other coaches should also be fired today bsky.app/profile/raps...

Sources: After a brutal start to the season, the Titans have fired coach Brian Callahan.

Also, yes, there is an event card for when Robert Moses shows up

I've finally begun delving into this game, and a) it is complex, but not unduly so, b) it is extremely unforgiving, but then so is both the arc of history and city planning, and c) it is endlessly fascinating and already becoming a personal favorite bsky.app/profile/akli...

It’s a bummer that it’s more likely Weiss gets canned because she fucked up the money than because she’s a moronic unqualified ghoul, but that’s just the world we live in
aklingus.bsky.social
I think this is something CBS did not take into account - no entity has unlimited pockets, and Weiss’ rather lax understanding of how reporting works leaves them wide open to getting sued left and right bsky.app/profile/bfis...
bfishbfish.bsky.social
The eventual lawsuits will certainly be interesting

The first big "scoop" by Bari Weiss is a feelings-over-facts poorly sourced non-story that spells Mamdani's name incorrectly. Just incredible stuff.

Unless that part of the quote has been left out by everyone else, I find it funny that she says “we” have to find respect but “she” (ie Rowling) doesn’t bsky.app/profile/juno...

right … which is .. what so many of us are asking for as trans people ???

Kiera Knightley sounds like a BlueSky moderator

Keira Knightley said that before joining the voice cast of Audible's "Harry Potter: The Full Cast Audio
Editions,
" she was "not aware" of the fan boycott
of all things "Harry Potter" over J.K. Rowling's statements about the transgender community:
"You know, I think we're all living in a period of time right now where we're all going to have to figure out how to live together, aren't we? And we've all got very different opinions. I hope that we can all find respect."

For a guy with a reasonably light touch in his other books, American Pastoral is so leaden, grim, and dull that I kinda think he wrote it that way on purpose

I'll tell you what One Battle After Another needed: more scenes involving animal torture so weirdly detailed it makes you wonder if the author actually likes torturing animals himself bsky.app/profile/hoov...

[guy who’s written a dozen versions of the exact same tedious book about the early 1980s]: this seems musty, to me
'One Battle After Another' Is a Hit with Critics Because It 'Aligns with a Leftist Sensibility, Says Bret Easton Ellis: 'There's a Liberal Mustiness to This Movie'

Honestly, much as I’d love him to do it, I hope he feels no pressure on that front, same as if the Vikings or Falcons win a title. Of course if Stieb gets into the HOF I would personally demand he does an epilogue to Captain Ahab
aklingus.bsky.social
people talk about the 2006 Cardinals as an all time backing into a title team, but the 2000 Yankees are probably even more annoying as such because, after all, they’re the fucking Yankees bsky.app/profile/schm...
schmanthonyp.bsky.social
They did also win the first game in the 2000 ALCS for the record!
aklingus.bsky.social
Oh I don’t think the point is that winning is bad either, I’m more against the idea that them winning the title would somehow be a beautiful capper to the whole thing as opposed to an incidental moment in the enjoyment of fandom
aklingus.bsky.social
A small thing that keeps me going is the tiny but not impossible chance Jon and Alex are front row at Stieb’s HOF speech
aklingus.bsky.social
oh sure I’m not saying I wouldn’t want to see Jon and Alex do a fun video about it
aklingus.bsky.social
The ironic thing is that the Mariners winning the title would actually not make for a good epilogue for The History of the Seattle Mariners because it runs entirely counter to the point of the entire documentary
aklingus.bsky.social
The Jays have taken about as much time at bat as the average Motown single the last three innings, seems bad
aklingus.bsky.social
Yeah, I dig that show. Utterly outrageous Who Are The Brain Police?. That’s one thing I think 70 has over 71, the 71 band changed the Brain Police arrangement for the worse
aklingus.bsky.social
yeah I’m more or less the same, any King Kong from ‘71 is as worth hearing as a ‘68 version and the instrumental stuff is wonderful. Aynsley Dunbar is my favorite FZ drummer, bar none
aklingus.bsky.social
Pretty much, although I do have a soft spot for Napoleon Murphy Brock (although when he was bad, he was AWFUL)
aklingus.bsky.social
That said, the best parts of this album - the instrumental stuff, the unbelievably slick segue into Willie the Pimp, the punchline to Do You Like My New Car? - are all up there with the best of FZ’s oeuvre, there’s a reason this was a top 40 album
